11 Hotels That Let You Have Christmas in Your Hotel Room

Dec 21, 2017

Can’t be at home for Christmas? Stuck in a hotel for the holidays? Don’t let your spirits drop -- there are plenty of hotels bringing tides of good cheer directly to your room through holiday decor and Christmas-spirited amenities. Here are some of our favorite places for a truly magical holiday season.

Fairmont San Francisco, California

Santa might just be a preferred guest at this hotel. This venue offers a one-of-a-kind Santa Suite -- a family-friendly stay consisting of a two-bedroom suite that has been decked out in decorations inspired by the man in the red suit himself. The room includes a predecorated tree, viewing access to holiday movie classics and a candy and hot chocolate bar (with an adult beverage available for parents).

Pro tip: For an activity the whole family will enjoy, you can request to decorate the tree yourself with ornaments provided by the hotel.

Mandarin Oriental, New York

For a super-luxe holiday experience, spend Christmas at this 5-star NYC hotel, where the dream of a white Christmas is not only fulfilled but exceeded. The staff can transform any suite into a winter wonderland that goes way beyond a trimmed tree. We’re talking a mantel with stockings, small artificial arrangements and delicious seasonal goodies. While this service comes at quite the price tag (over $5,000 plus taxes and advance notice), the experience is, well, priceless.

French Quarter Inn, South Carolina

This Charleston inn takes Southern hospitality to a new level with its Southern Sleigh Bell Suite, which is decked in holiday decor from head to toe; you will even find some mistletoe and be treated to a freshly baked cookie paired with milk at the end of the day. The inn’s holiday charm goes beyond these gestures, though. The hotel hosts a special reading of “’Twas the Night before Christmas,” led by Santa, and carolers stop by the lobby on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Kinzie Hotel, Chicago

Calling all lovers of holiday beverages -- this boutique hotel’s North Pole Express package enables guests to order delicious drinks directly to their rooms. The service consists of a vintage bar cart with a top-notch hot cocoa station and boozy hot apple cider. To go with these drinks, the hotel offers holiday-themed doughnuts, cookies and candies. Guests can also stop by an ornament craft station to make a little something to hang on the tree.

McGregor Mountain Lodge, Colorado

For a Rocky Mountain Christmas, this Estes Park lodge lets you pick your own tree. As part of its Old Fashioned Christmas package, guests are taken to a private 40-acre woodlot to pick out a live Christmas tree. On Dec. 23, lodge staffers bring guests out on this excursion and provide the saw to cut down the tree. When the job is done, guests are offered help taking the tree back and assembling it in their cabin.

Pro tip: Start off your tree trimming with a keepsake lodge ornament.

Kimpton Alexis Hotel Seattle, Washington

A roaring fireplace is synonymous with the holidays, and this Kimpton property in Seattle has a large fireplace adorned with stockings in its special Christmas Suite. The suite is also garnished with several garlands, a table centerpiece and a basket of blankets to snuggle in by the fire. Once settled, guests can call room service for complimentary hot cocoa and cookies.

The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

This hotel takes decking the halls seriously with an aptly named Deck the Halls Package. With this service, guests can choose a predecorated tree or else adorn a tree themselves with lights, ornaments and decor provided within the suite. Other activities offered in this package include a Santa’s Milk & Cookies turndown service, gift delivery and a daily in-suite breakfast for two, just to name a few.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, Colorado

Guests with a residence or suite can arrange for the placement of a fully decorated Fraser fir adorned with handmade ornaments and lights. Upon request, the resort can also assist guests in hosting a private holiday dinner within their own residence. Last-minute Christmas shopping is made easy at the lobby gift shop, which remains open until Christmas Eve and can gift-wrap items.

The Wentworth Inn, New Hampshire

At this elegant inn in Mount Washington Valley, the Christmas package includes not only an in-room tree but also a traditional Christmas dinner for two with all of the trimmings on Christmas Day. During the meal, enjoy music by a group of carolers strolling and singing throughout the dining room.

DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld, Florida

Apparently some of Santa’s elves work at this property on Dec. 24 and 25. During this time period, an Elf Tuck-In can be arranged in which these helpers visit guests’ rooms to give bedtime stories and stockings on Christmas Eve. Guests can also request an elf wake-up call, which includes hot chocolate and a cookie on Christmas morning. Pre-Christmas festivities are also available at an early-evening Christmas Eve pajama party in the lobby.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Canada

This British Columbia property lets you take charge of decorating your room through its concierge service. Contact the desk to request a kit consisting of fresh and live pine trees (5 to 6 feet tall) that come with a Christmas decorating package of lights and ornaments.
