Ontario staycation tax credit: Best local travel experiences
Ontario is yours to discover... and so are the deals!
A new Ontario Staycation Tax Credit has kicked in for 2022, encouraging locals to explore their own beautiful backyard by making provincial travel more affordable and enticing.
Ontario residents will receive a 20% personal income tax credit on eligible accommodation between Jan. 1 and Dec. 1, 2022, up to a maximum spend of $1,000 for an individual and $2,000 for a family, for a maximum credit of $200 or $400 respectively. That's enough to justify splurging on travel treats like an extra night's stay, gourmet meals or spa treatments. (The full list of rules and eligibility can be found on the Ontario government website.)
