"The Digby Pines is my favourite place to stay in all of Nova Scotia. The hotel has an amazing old world charm, rooms are clean and comfortable, but by far the best part is the staff--they are unlike any other place I have ever been and really make the Pines feel like home."

The setting and grounds are quite nice.

Hotel is Very dated, beautiful setting but needs a lot of work with building, better design in the interior spaces, tired furniture and not enough of it common areas. Staff were just ok and not great at all at restaurant.

A "classic" hotel with lots of history. Needs some "up-grading". However, overall a pleasant stay.

We felt the level of service in the Dining room has deteriorated somewhat. Possibly a "staffing issue"

The staff were fabulous! The Spa services were lovely.

It was run down, too quiet and eerie . The chairs in the main lobby / sitting area were tattered and had big rips in them. The pool was dumpy and looked into a wall.. no view. The activities area had tennis courts that were overrun with weeds and trees. We had massages and the facility was nice, and staff was super kind. We actually left immediately after our massages as we didn’t want to stay at the hotel as the property was not as expected. The front desk staff was understanding and kind, and didn’t charge us. - we were very appreciative and thankful. Whilst discussing with other Nova Scotia locals on our travels, no one was surprised by our depiction. - Although the people were lovely , I would not recommend this hotel until it undergoes the upgrades it deserves. It was clearly once a stunning and regal property. * we did not go up to our rooms, but some of the staff we spoke to said they were old and dated, but that the cabins were in fact nicer.. so maybe those would be a better choice?

Hotel was really run down. Our room was the last one at the end of a long hall up 3 flights of stairs with broken elevator. It would be difficult for older folks. It was an odd shape and cramped. Other rooms on the floor appeared much bigger and brighter. Not sure if we got that room because of the Travelzoo deal. The bathroom tub floor was grey and there was mold around the tub that they tried to cover with caulk. Holes on the vinyl tile floor. There was a panel door in the closet which would not shut fully and you could see down to other floors and a light which was spooky. Place gave us The Shining vibes. Bathroom really should make this room decommissioned. The only plus is the breakfast buffet which is included and the friendly staff and nice location. The place would have been lovely back in the day but needs a serious remodel to bring it back to its glory days.

We have stayed here before, as a historic hotel the rooms are smallish, and the 'finish' is a bit rough. The bathrooms are very small and 'fixtures' leave a bit to be desired. We knew this and wanted to stay because the grounds are very nice and Digby was central to where we wanted to go. The Restaurant was very nice the service there was great and the food was very well prepared.
Other Comments
It's a historic hotel, do not expect the spaciousness and 'newness' of a modern hotel.

This is our 2nd time booking a Travelzoo package at Digby Pines. We booked a cabin this time and it was even nicer than the hotel room we booked last time.
