"Wonderful staff and charming little resort. We stayed in one of the vintage Airstreams. Bed was very comfortable, and we loved having our own fire ring to sit and enjoy the evening. The bartender in the Saloon was so friendly and the burgers were great! Front desk staff were lovely, too."

The two managers were on vacay so I couldn't address the problems we had encountered with them. I saw the grounds keeper and told him everything in a non aggressive manner. He was amazed. He called the front desk. When I went to drop off the key, the older gal apologized. She had worked there for 10 years and felt bad about the conditions. Grounds man had asked her to give us our money back for the two more nights we were going to spend and also 15% off the night from hell...They offered to put us into the hotel. But by that time had our car packed and looking forward to driving the 2 1/2 hours home.

We stayed in an OLD Airstream. first of all, there was supposed to be a walk thru showing us how everything worked. I did not know this at the time. That did not happen. so I went back to the receptionist after moving our stuff in. I wanted to light the stove to make lunch, There was no stove lighter. So the receptionist called the grounds man. He came and gave us one saying that the past guests must have taken it. You'd think they'd check for the lighter before the next guests arrived. Then, he turned on the propane. You'd think that they would have done that already. I put our stuff in the refrigerator and top freezer. The was another small frig too. I thot 'how nice'; its probably for drinks. Next morning I discovered that the main frig and freezer didn't work. So, I had to throw some food away, bummer. It'd been nice if I had known that before putting my food in the day before.. Then, when I tried to take a bath/shower in the ancient tub, there was no hot water, nor water pressure. I hate not taking a bath/shower every evening, During the night it got so cold.....The one blanket was way not enough. Thank goodness I brought some throw blankets. At about 2 AM I decided to try to get the AC off as I was freezing. I had no idea how to operate the thermostat as there was no brochure etc. I remembered being in Europe with the same sort of unit. Finally I got it off. Thank goodness my hubby runs hot as he gave me his throw. And.. all night I heard a paper tearing and munching going on. I'd get up and look around.. nothing. Next morning I found our bag of tortilla chips torn up and a pile of chip crumbs. Too bad I didn't give the rat some salsa, too. Also, when we went out the door, we could smell the propane. It musta been leaking out of one of the tanks in the front. Good thing we don't smoke! The place is an old run down hotel that has not been kept up. And the old Airstreams are nightmares. It was the night from Hell. Driving home was tough on no sleep!

We had a great time at the hotel. Super fun for kids, centrally located, clean rooms. My one complaint is actually with the misleading Travelzoo deal. It says that part of the deal would include two drink vouchers at the bar. When I checked in I asked about this, and they said they were not legally able to fulfill it in the state of California and had been asking Travelzoo to update it for quite some time. It was still a good deal even without it, but I did feel mislead and hope Travelzoo will take the opportunity to update their language.
