The room was very small and the heat was not working properly. The heat would come on intermittently and made a loud rumbling noise every time it turned on. We had a room facing the street and it was VERY LOUD all night with sirens and honking. To top it off, the reception desk is on the 2nd floor and there is no security whatsoever. My daughter left her purse on a bench in the lobby (her fault) and within a ten minute period of us realizing it, it was stolen. We were on a college visiting trip so this was a real bummer. When we asked the desk if anyone had returned it, they never offered to check the cameras or call police. I would never stay here again.

Really enjoy this simple hotel with small but well thought out rooms and we had a lovely view over snowy Boston. However it can be noisy outside. Even on the 17th floor we could hear car horns honking well into the wee hours. on our previous visit we stayed in the back but had a brick wall view and heard the clanging of dumpsters being unloaded at 4am. A high floor in the back may be a better bet.

Our fourth stay was as nice as the others. It's definitely a place for young people (and we're not), but we don't feel terribly out of place at Moxy. The rooms are small and sparsely furnished. The bed, comfortable, the shower, hot and we had everything we needed. A refrigerator would have been nice, but I don't know where they could fit one. The location in the Theater District is excellent with Boylston and Tufts stops nearby. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. It can be a bit noisy at Moxy on the weekends. The street noise (even sixteen floors up) was pretty loud and lasted well past midnight. We got a great price for two nights this time and we'll definitely stay again. It's a great value when you can get a deal.

First timer for Moxy. Very unique setup- Staff very friendly and helpful. Solo-My Room was small-would be tight for 2 at 150 sq ft., but really had everything you could want. . Very clean., snazzy shower. City sounds even on 13th floor- (Hey it's Downtown) nearby Medical center/ambulances-- Boston Fire trucks. Room did have sound machine / Free internet (insecure- several attempted websites popped warnings) Steered clear. Cool bar/food area/ work area combo along with friendly check-in on 2nd floor. Gym onsite. Staff eager to please and seem to enjoy their workplace

The street noise was impossible! Yes, the hotel provides ear plugs and a white noise machine, but it's not enough to drown out the street noise. Also, no trash can in the tiny room, just a recycling box. What do we do with our trash? Leave a pile on a chair for the cleaning lady? Leave us a bag in which to put garbage, like ladies' sanitary pads! Or tell guests to bring your own garbage bag.

I was concerned before we arrived after reading a few negative reviews, and was pleasantly surprised. The location was great - we took the train to Boston, and it’s a relatively easy walk to Back Bay and South Station, and it’s right in the theater district, next to Emerson and a block from one corner of the Boston Public Gardens. The staff was great, and the set-up, with check in on one side and the bar area on the other kept the space active with a lively vibe all day. The Tuesday night jazz band was excellent (and free). The rooms are tiny, with few flat surfaces to put things, but the hooks all along the wall (with a few hangers provided) work well. The bed was a double, but comfortable/nice and firm. The room felt clean and fresh. All in all a great Travelzoo deal.

This is a very funky hotel. The location is great IF you can find it. It has a tiny front right next to the Wilbur Theater and it's a bit hard to find. NB It's address is Tremont Street but the front is actually on Stuart. The rooms are very small with no closet at all. There are several pegs to hang your clothes on but it wouldn't be convenient for more than a couple of days. We had a GREAT price from TravelZoo. I'm not sure I'd pay full price for this place except for the location. The HVAC system was terrible - very hard to regulate. One really bright spot - the TV didn't work and when I reported that to the front desk early on a Sunday morning, I wasn't optimistic but two very nice guys showed up in about 10 minutes (I think the main guy was Teddy) and fixed the problem and were quick and friendly. One small downer - there is no coffee in the rooms. You have to go down to the bar and it's only complimentary if you get regular coffee (no decaf) and they actually charge for tea!

I arrived ahead of check in on a Monday and they were happy to take me early. I had a great room on a high floor with a beautiful view of the city. The room is small, so good for one person or a couple who are not too large in size. Very different kind of hotel experience. Adult but geared to the teenager inside. Pac-man, Mortal Kombat, Foosball & many large versions of table games in the common areas available for free. I liked the communal areas very much where there were tables & chairs along the wall of windows on the second floor, and a snuggle together couch with cushions down the middle of the space near the bar with its long table & other groupings of table & chairs - and pink Christmas trees. My room was tiny, about the size of my bed, with pegs for hanging everything including a table & chair. The bathroom with pocket door was roomy & interestingly had a square toilet. I thought my room was too small inititially but being on the 17th floor, felt spacious because of the view.
Other Comments
Pros - the staff were very nice & helpful. I'd left my phone charger at home & they found one that worked; my room had been upgraded, thus the great 17th floor view. Everyone was attentive. And I was given a coupon for a free Happy Hour drink & another for free $25 worth of food for each day I stayed there.
The cons were no extra amenities in the room such as no mini fridge, microwave or coffee maker. I had difficulty figuring out how to use the TV & missed not being able to watch PBS stations.
The reason I said I wouldn't go back is that I like to explore new places, & also, I would rather stay outside the city in the future - maybe at an inn by the ocean. But I recommend the MOXY for a true, hip city of Boston experience! It's a fun place in a great location.

Why We Love This Deal
Last time we featured this hip hotel, guests called it a "bargain for downtown Boston." Save up to 50% with this offer on early spring dates (when prices usually rise). Plus, Members don't have to pay the nightly destination fee.
The Moxy boasts an unbeatable location in the Theater District. Stay within walking distance of Boston Common, Public Garden, Chinatown and Newbury Street. And it's close to the T—so you can easily explore the city.
