"We booked a TravelZoo package deal which included room, 2x $50/night dining credit, 2x! $20 cocktail vouchers, $50 gift certificate for future visit and 2 pr of Drake slippers to keep! A great value package for a quick “get-away” weekend. Hotel is well-situated on Queen “west-west” with lots of shops, boutiques, cafes and alternate restaurants. We dined at the Drake to use the credits and the food was very well-prepared and presented. Our only disappointment was the location of the room we were given. The package included a “crash-pad” room, which we knew was compact and space-efficient, but in reality is quite small, especially the bathroom/shower area which lacked privacy and also wouldn’t suit large or tall folks. Of more importance is the location of the room on the west side of the “classic wing” which overlooked a side street with a (very) loud bar across the road. This was very disappointing and did cause an unenjoyable experience when we wanted to have an afternoon rest prior to heading out for the evening. It was also loud at night until around closing at 1-2 am. We thought that the hotel should have offered-up this info at check-in with any alternatives (if available) provided. (It didn’t appear that the hotel was fully booked at the time). We understand that the exceptional package pricing comes with compromises, but it seemed that the discounted price was really an offset for the inferior location (and size)of the room. I’m not sure I’d pay full price for the room or location. Having said that, the staff, meals, cocktails, and other aspects of our stay were very enjoyable. Wed return to the Drake, but be more discerning about room choice next time (perhaps a location in the east “new” wing."

The hotel seems a bit tired especially in the section our room was. Our room was very small with no private bathroom or shower. The shower had mold at the bottom and the stairs to access the room were quite dirty. Our room was also right beside the staff cleaning room. We were also disappointed to find out that we couldn't enjoy dinner in the dining area due to a wedding take place there. We feel we should have been informed of that ahead of time. Prices for brunch were very high. Staff was all very nice.

Overall it was good, but the room was extremely small, had only one small window, and the concierge wasn't helpful with parking or service on the first night. A different concierge was helpful the next day.

The problem issues were parking and location. The other issue was the shower. It needs a little changes. Rooms are very small but served my needs. I did not receive the travel zoo extras that were included in the package. Other than that it is a quaint small hotel outside of the downtown area. There is a bar and restaurant attached to the hotel that I didn’t use. It looked quite nice.

We enjoyed our mini-break at the Drake. Cocktails in the Lobby Bar are a relaxing way to start the evening. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the full menu was available there too, so we didn't have to move from our fire-side seats. The Modern rooms are very comfortable and surprisingly quiet given the activity in the hotel and that the room faced the street. Lots of fun touches throughout the room and the property. A fantastic location with lots of food choices. The parking structure down the street was a short walk away and was not an issue at all. We especially liked the text chat welcome which connected us directly with the front desk, making reservations and questions quick and easy.

As noted in the package description, the early check-in and late check-out are per availability. Best to call ahead to set both up as they are not automatic. You can drop your bags and there is lots to do in the immediate area while you wait. Worth staying on the property for cocktails and a meal - the food is amazing.
