This hotel is well appointed and luxurious. The decor is “old world glamorous “ with fountains and crystal chandeliers and marble walls. The staff is excellent, friendly and attentive.
HOWEVER, the food in the coffee shop and the Oyster Bar restaurant was only average. (I didn’t eat oysters here)
My room could have been a sanctuary EXCEPT in the evenings when the Jazz venue, directly below my room, shook my room with their LOUD LOUD, LOUD music for several hours.
Because of its great location on Bourbon street this is NOT the place to stay if you like quiet evenings after a long day of sightseeing.

All of the people at the hotel were friendly, helpful, and professional. The rooms were immaculate and delicious coffees werr available to brew. the beds were very comfortable and the bedding was of a high quality. The only problem we had is that our room faced Bourban street and it was very noisy until 4:30 am. The next timewe stay there, we'll request rooms facing the courtyard.

Easy to walk to the highlights of the city from the Sonesta. Even though the hotel is on Bourbon St, we could not hear the noise from the street at night. Loved having a jazz club on site and the jazz park right across from the hotel. The staff was wonderful at the hotel, restaurants and jazz club. Didn't get to use the pool as it was too cold in early February 2025 when we visited.

Computer in the business center did not work, could not use. Wasn't fixed while we were there for 4 nights. Neither the hotel or the WW II museum knew anything about the 10% museum discount we were supposed to get with our Travel Zoo package. So, couldn't use this piece.

Great hotel in the best location. Received 4 texts, 2 confirming reservation and asking if we had any special requests. 1 asking how our stay was going and if there was anything else we needed, and 1 after checkout thanking us for our stay.
The hotel has a coffee shop, 2 restaurants, and a jazz club, plus an outdoor swimming pool and pool bar.
Our Travel Zoo stay included free valet parking and a $15 per day food/beverage credit.
We asked for a king courtyard room, which was spacious and quiet.
Other than the outdoor swimming pool, due to cold weather, we enjoyed all of the other amenities.
The friendly staff also contributed to our 5 star review.
BTW - Other than the New Orleans dininig options, visiting the WWII museum was the primary reason for our 4 day trip. We bought the 2 day pass, spent about 10 hours there over the 2 days, and still did not see it all.

The manager, Erika Franklin, was very apologetic and accommodating. She seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on. Room was clean and lovely. Valet was friendly and efficient.

Had two reservations each for one day. TZ contacted the hotel on my behalf to merge them, and contacted me to tell me it was done. When I checked in I found it was not.
Sink clogged, staff couldn’t fix, but did not let me know. I found out after returning to the room exhausted later in the day, then had to change rooms.
Lost my first night $15 food and beverage credit bc the guy who checked me in told me it could be combined with my second night credit and used anytime. Not true.
Loud and obnoxious people in the middle of the night disturbing my sleep.

Overall our stay was great and the staff was good to interact with. Many of the perks listed in our reservation were not well understood by the staff and we were unable to get one of the discounts because they were not able to explain how to get the discount at the WWII Museum.

The hotel was very clean and safe. Staff were very helpful. The rooms were well taken care of with housekeeping every day. Multiple dining and drinking locations on the hotel grounds.

The only negative I encountered was failing to contact the front desk though the room telephone. It either went to voice mail or I was told the voice mailbox was full. No one ever answered. I had to physically go to the front desk to talk to someone but each time I was taken care of quickly.

The walls are super thin and windows are not sound proof at all! Considering the hotel being located on Bourbon street this created a lot of issues. The rooms facing the street are so noisy that we had to change rooms and when we did, we had issues hearing everything from other rooms and hallways! The guy next door was coughing all day/night so loudly that would wake us up an we could hear the conversation of the people walking in the hallways! It was super annoying that we could not get a single good night sleep during our entie trip!

The TravelZoo offer and rate was not matched by the hotel at time of checkout. Over $112 was erroneously charged to my credit card. After a lengthy dispute at the hotel, it was finally refunded. Only because I am a planner, I printed out the offer, email and online reservation to show the desk personnel. I truly believe I had I not had this info in hand, the correct rate and amenities would not have been honored.

This was our second stay at the Royal Sonesta. The location is PERFECT if you want to be directly in the heart of the French Quarter. It's amazing how quiet the rooms are considering the hotel is directly on Bourbon Street. Rooms are nice (although we had issues with keeping the hot water and room temp consistent), and the pool and courtyard areas are lovely.

Lovely staff at check-in and they were available and helpful when we had questions during our stay. Valet parking is around the corner from the front door, and down the steep hill. There were several cars parked at the top of the hill and we had to go around them to get to the valet area. On checkout, they will keep your car until 3 pm without an additional charge. Bellhop will store your luggage for you as well.
Our room was clean and spacious, and the balcony overlooking the street was so fun. There was a bit of street noise, but not enough to disturb sleep.
Breakfasted at Desire - highly recommend the debris breakfast sandwich! It was messy but delicious.
