we had a great time at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. The property is beautiful and historic, offers great views and activities. The rooms are comfy. The parking is a bit tricky, far away from rooms. Guests can get help though - just ask at reception. The staff is exceptional on all levels. Amal at reception and her colleagues in all areas are offering outstanding hospitality and customer service.

This hotel is luxury. The premises are wonderful overlooking the St Lawrence with walking trails and places to sit and relax. The pool area has choices of a sauna, cold pool and warm whirlpool as well as an outdoor pool and not whirlpool which was ideal for an Autumn getaway. We chose to pay extra for an upgrade to a room overlooking the river with a Jacuzzi which we enjoyed. Watching the sun rise over the St Lawrence was magical. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We spent three nights which was enough to relax and really enjoy the facilities.

We loved it! The charm and the opulence of the Manoir. We swam in the beautiful pool. dined in the restaurants and golfed at the golf course. The golf course is stunning!
Other Comments
The breakfast buffet was delicious, but we found that dinner at the hotel to be just ok. Service was good but the dinner entrees were lacking and not worth the money. The caprese salad however was delicious and well worth it!

The staff, service and grounds were excellent. The bathroom was clean and modern. The bed and linens were also excellent. However, the room itself was tired looking -- dull decor, worn furniture, almost no pictures, and poor lighting. The first impression upon getting off the elevator and entering our room was that of a Best Western Hotel....so I while I would recommend the hotel to friends, etc. I would let them know not to expect a 'wow' experience with the room itself.

The photos on the website show modern rooms -- and that is what I was expecting, hence the initial disappointment with the room we had. We discovered later that the rooms shown on the website are in the new addition which does not have river views. There should be greater clarification with photos.

My wife and I had a great time. The staff was very professional. The Hotel was beautiful. The food in the hotel was average and very pricey. The one problem that we had was the number of flies in the restaurants. The flies were there at breakfast and dinner. We watched every night as patrons at other tables were using their menus to get them away. I had lunch at the golf course inside the clubhouse and we had several flies there as well. I paid a lot of money for our meals and not once did anyone in the restaurant the problem. We should have received something for the nuisance that it caused every time we ate.
acknowledge the problem. No managers or waitstaff. That happened every day

We were hoping to get an upgrade to a room with a better view, but that never happened. We looked at a bouncy house outside the window. We enjoyed the outside pool, but there was always a line at outside bar. When the pool is filled to capacity, and everyone is trying to have fun but had to wait in long lines to get a drink. This was not the fault of the bartender. There should have been at least 2 bartenders.

Room was comfortable and lovely, quiet. Getting to the hotel was difficult as the signage was extremely poor (so we got lost). The hotel bar, pool areas were not clean (food and junk on the floors and tables), little staff. The food we ordered in their restaurant was cold when it arrived and it took a long time for any staff to attend to us. There was only 1 restaurant open and the menu was only "okay". I expect a lot more from a higher end Fairmont hotel such as this. The golf club restaurant and other restaurants closed early afternoon, leaving only 1 open to eat at. Checking out took 40 minutes which is ridiculous. The reception staff did not seem to be able to process people efficiently.
Other Comments
I was very disappointed with the quality and care/cleanliness of the hotel in general. Shocking in fact and I expect more from this type of Fairmont hotel collection. Reception check in and check out was terrible and very long. Again, surprising for a 5 star hotel. It took us 40 minutes to check out.

I booked a King room with St Lawrence river view through travelzoo. Drove 12hrs to get to Le Manoir Richelieu and upon check in I was told there were no King rooms available, only option was double room. This of course was not what I booked well in advance of travelling all the way out to Charlevoix. I was told there was a wedding party that took all the rooms. I asked by a hotel such as the Fairmont would not inform me prior of this - no one had an answer for that. On top of that, girl at the check in desk was completely unhelpful. I ended up having to contact TravelZoo which called the hotel and was told the same thing. I started to look for a manager - finally I found one who listened to my frustration and did his very best to accommodate the inconvenience.

It was high season and there were not enough staff. My daughter and I arrived later in the day after a long drive thinking we could eat at the hotel. We only learned at that time that reservations for the restaurant were required. I am uncertain how a large hotel was unable to serve all of its guests.
The staff were tired and not at their best. With the exception of the bar staff who were lovely and served us our expensive burger in a dark lounge removed from the spectacular view.

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. This hotel has the same history and charm you would find at the Banff Springs Fairmont, for example. The area has few eating options however.

These comments are specific to the Travelzoo package. The way you make the purchase on Travelzoo it looks like you are paying Travelzoo and only need to pay the hotel directly for the resot fees. For me, I was surprised to learn that I needed to pay the hotel directly (on checkout day). The hotel charged me for valet parking even though it was supposed to be included in my Travelzoo package (the outcome of that refund is still in progress...it was a bit of a hassle at check out as a result). This does not take away from a great hotel and package from Travelzoo.

This is a beautiful hotel on the bank of the St Lawrence River. The building is fabulous, it feels like a place that only the rich and the famous could afford. Having said that there is a LOT to fix. The rooms are not up to Fairmont standards, some of the front desk staff are not at all friendly and the spa is a 2 star at best. The weekend brunch is fabulous !

Staying in this historic hotel was a great experience. The staff were very accommodating and professional. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a great view of the water. The spa was clean and big and bustling with lots of people. The restaurant was staffed with very attentive servers and the options were delicious. And the Travelzoo code was correctly programmed into our reservation so check out was a snap because the bill was accurate. This property is a very historic and relaxing place to get away.

I thought I was booking Quebec City Fairmont so was very disappointed because it was another two hour drive. The hotel was fantasic and treated us very well.

Great staff - if there was a problem, they took care of it right away
The staff were great. The management not so great. When we went to check in, the room assigned had no heating, and it took the front desk almost 1-1/2 hours to figure out that we were correct when we told them the thermostat was not working, and the room was cold. They moved us to a new room, but we were unaware that the bellman had put a fur vest in the closet of the old room. When we realized this, we tried to retrieve the vest, was told "there is a person in the room, there is nothing we can do". Ultimately, after no help over a day, we connected directly with the guest in his room, he was happy to return the vest to us, and we departed about two hours past when we were planning to depart. The front desk and management are young, and do not meet what I would call the Fairmont Experience.

The windows in the main lounge, looking out on the St Lawrence River, were filthy, as were the floors in the elevators. An indication of the lack of good management at this supposed luxury hotel. The atmosphere was more like a Six Flags Hotel and Water Park than a luxury hotel.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Grounds are gorgeous. Valet guys were great and gave us a ride back to hotel from restaurant. In my opinion, this was far prettier than Hotel Fontanec, right on the river, no crowds. The restaurant was excellent, breakfast buffet had everything one could want. And the espresso machine in the room was a fantastic extra (I ordered the same one from Amazon after I tried this out!). We did not go in the casino. I'd LOVE to return one day....

We enjoyed the property, enjoyed the golf course, customer service was very good but the accommodation was not so great.
Room was the biggest concern: Room was very small, washroom was tiny (It's the biggest problem with all fairmont hotels) and Poor light in the room and that was definitely a problem for us, the room was dark if there as soon as it was dawn, my husband and I were struggling as the light was too dim to work on our computers and bad for my son's eyes as he was using ipad in this dim light.
Internet was an issue but the front desk was able to solve the problem.
On the last day, glad we asked for the copy of the invoice as there were multiple extra charges and it took me an hour to get them fixed at the time of the check-out. We were charged for pet (which we didn't have), charged for valet parking that was included in our package and extra gratitude charges by the restaurant. We had $20 food credit in our package and it was not honoured.
Other Comments
Issue with the room (except the view, that was beautiful but windows were very small to enjoy it) must be raised with Fairmont. Extra charges in the invoice must also be raised with the hotel. If I wouldn't have asked them for a paper copy and we would have just checked out, it would have been a hassle for us to call Fairmont and resolve the extra charges issue with the hotel over the phone. It was an inconvenience.
The property is beautiful. I wish the rooms and washrooms are decent in size with proper light in the rooms. It feels so dark in the room and rugs are so dark that they always look dirty.

We are 5 stars for our overall experience. Only comment was for the Le Bellerive which was excellent for the breakfast buffet, however the evening choice was limited and our next visit will be the Le Saint-Laurent for the evening meal.
I may be just too sensitive of the scents in the main entrance and upstairs in the Grand Hall, the upper levels are better.
We will be back, thanks for the exceptional service all around.
