We enjoyed the Claridge House. Very clean and nice. Small rooms, so be aware of that. Housekeeping was helpful and front staff was as well. Gold Coast area on a quiet street.

The hotel is located amongst beautiful homes in a very walkable area. It’s a smaller boutique hotel but delivers everything you need. The staff is friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back when staying in Chicago!

It was great being able to get a fresh cooked breakfast and coffee in the lobby. Not a lot of menu choices, but good food and great coffee. The have gluten free bread and non-dairy milk alternatives. It worked out great for me. Very nice party of town. You feel safe walking around and I was able to walk to great restaurants in under 10 minutes.

I like that it's in the Gold Coast neighborhood, so that you get more of a Chicago experience. Gotham bagels nearby are a good morning stop. Definitely make sure to plan for dinner at Art Smith's Chicago Q nearby.

I'm a medium/small-sized adult, but the WC is so tiny, I had to stand in the shower to close the door. I very much liked the hotel texting to see if everything is fine and responded to queries in a reasonable amount of time. Check in staff was a little cranky, but we all have our days and it wasn't abusive or anything.

The standard queen room is very small. The air conditioning unit is right next to the bed and was rattling. The technician couldn’t fix it and we were told there were no other rooms available until the next day. We did move the next day, but it was an uncomfortable first night and big inconvenience. On the plus side, the location is very good being close to the lake shore and a leisurely walk to the main downtown area. The residential area around the hotel makes for a nice stroll.

I was only there for one night, but the hotel exceeded expectations. Staff was consistently friendly and helpful. I was in and out quite a bit and never passed a staff member that didn't make eye contact and say hello. The room was compact, but fully functional and more than adequate for my solo trip. Everything worked and was well maintained. Ample hot water, water pressure, good bedding and towels. I was on the back side, zero noise from the outside. Excellent wifi.

It's in a very safe, walkable neighborhood with services, restaurants, etc. near by. About 3 blocks from the Red Line stop at Clark/Division which worked great for my trip from Union Station. The 3rd Coast Cafe on the corner was great for lunch and dinner. Good food, excellent servers.

The Claridge is in a great location near many restaurants and bars, and even a grocery store and Walgreens. Walkable to the river with a lovely dog park and the zoo nearby. Our room was not huge but there was sufficient space for our things. The bathroom was nicely decorated with good water pressure in the shower. The refrigerator worked well. We didn’t make it to the wine hour but appreciated the free bottled water we received. The staff was great! Very polite, helpful and accommodating. I appreciated the ability to text them with questions and requests. This hotel was a great deal for the cost. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat!

The best about the hotel was the location. It was also clean and well maintained. Staff was courteous.
Rooms are very small. I wish the room had a small sitting area. There was only one chair available. The hair dryer was very old and basic. They need to update it. Overall it was great value.

We were able to get in early. Our tv remote would not work but they quickly replaced it. We received complimentary wine for happy hour though they only had one kind of white wine which we do not like. We had to end up moving rooms at 11:00pm because of a leaking water in the bathroom. Our stay at Claridge House was just what we needed! We spent our days exploring the city and loved the location in the beautiful Gold Coast neighborhood. Easy access to the L train as well as plenty of restaurants, bars and landmarks within easy walking distance. The rooms are a little older and the walls are very thin, but we found that it was plenty comfortable for sleeping and service was excellent. Everything was spotlessly clean.

The lobby area is large for the size of this hotel. It was comfortable with many different seating areas and had games to play. There is a security officer stationed in there in the evenings. There are also tables outside on the sidewalk and the street is really lovely. The rooms are tiny - just the bare minimum, which was fine for us on this trip, as we didn’t have extra time to lounge around. It was very quiet except for doors closing now and then. Elevators tended to be slow. The perks covered by the resort fee (free to us with the Travelzoo deal) weren’t obvious to obtain. The bar in the lobby has coffee and pastries in the morning and drinks (pricey ones as it turned out) in the evening, but apparently this is not the bar where you get 15% off. You also cannot charge to your room for items purchased at the lobby bar. We were left assuming the bar with 15% off must have been a bar within the sushi restaurant, at the back of the lobby, behind a curtain, with no signage whatsoever. They seemed to think it was a cute, fun secret- when we peeked through the curtain a host did come running from across the room to greet us, trying to lure us in for dinner, which was awkward, because we already had plans elsewhere. We were given no information from the front desk at check-in except the location of our room. We asked about the free wine, as we arrived right at the end of the hour. They did offer us three glasses of red or white, as our daughter happened to be with us (not staying at the hotel though) which was very nice, and they poured it from behind closed doors right there at the front desk, not from the bar. Every hotel has its idiosyncrasies - it would have been nice to have been oriented to it all at check-in.
