Most of the staff were wonderful.. the problems are not their fault it’s the stricture and the system.
The lagoon and resort location was really very nice.

There was hardly any of the advertised activities. Was basically thrown out of Ciello bar as they had a private event . Most other resort buffets ( much less expensive at that) are far superior. Food selection is very limited and was very disappointing and to top it off after charging resort fee (40) which I knew about and you disclosed , they charged an additional usd 36 daily which was what they called “ discretionary service charge”!which was not discretionary and you had not disclosed upfront!!! I tipped well in cash and found this to be highly questionable since you had supposedly identified any additional charges!

This was our second visit to the Fairmont Mayakoba, both booked through Travelzoo, and once again, it exceeded our expectations. The staff is truly exceptional, going above and beyond to ensure an unforgettable stay. The property itself is stunning, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and luxury.
With plenty of restaurants to choose from, there's always something to satisfy your cravings. Located just 40 minutes from Cancun airport, the resort is easily accessible by car or shuttle. Once you arrive, you’re transported into a serene neighborhood with several properties nearby—but trust me, you won’t want to leave the Fairmont!

We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to the entire team at the hotel. The exceptional service is the reason we keep coming back and rebooking year after year. During our stay, we experienced a slip and fall, and we were blown away by the care and professionalism of everyone involved—from the front desk staff to the paramedics and the onsite doctor. You all went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. Your service is truly second to none! We can’t wait to return next year, and it’s all thanks to the incredible staff who make every visit unforgettable.

We went right after peak season - first full week of September - so it was relatively empty. We got a free upgrade - possibly because we told them we were there for my brother’s 40th, and possibly because it was under booked, but nevertheless they did not have to do that. Parts of the hotel are fairly far apart, so you do have to take a bike or wait for a golf cart chauffeur. But overall, beautiful hotel and thus great deal on Travelzoo

Very nice place. Staff were all friendly--top notch. However, I hate the system where you have to sign off on all the drinks and service at an all inclusive. An unnecessary annoyance. It seemed as if we had to wait around for a half hour or more after every meal to get our check--time that we could have spent enjoying the resort and our vacation.

another great time at Mayakoba- we went this same time last year, and it was just as magical as the last time. there was a slight issue with no king rooms available the night we checked in but they fixed it the next day. we had a wonderful time and are going back in January with the family. Love Fairmont Mayakoba!!
excellent stay. Loved the Eco Tour on the Fairmont boat. Wish there was a hot tub in either pool area. Service and food were truly excellent.

great time. Beautiful hotel. Even thought we had the all inclusive, gratuity is not included so you have to sign a ticket every time you get a drink/food. We tipped based on the service, not the amount of the bill since obviously the prices are a bit high if you were just paying them. A bit odd compared to our other all inclusive experiences but no big deal, just don't freak out when you see a bill for a LOT, it does come off at the end. The food was delicious, drinks were great, and the hotel is beautiful. Would gladly return.

This Travel Zoo package was excellent. We had a wonderful time. It is a bit of a quiet resort at this time of year (mid August), which was fine with us.

Great place for a holiday for adult couples and families. We had a Signature Casita Suite, which was roomy and beautiful. Service was exceptional. Staff were excellent. Sport activities were included and great to try out. The Travel Zoo special made it worthwhile; especially the all-inclusive package. Otherwise, meals would be quite pricey. Only thing to note it there isn't a lot re night life, no night shows that are common at many other resorts. Having said that, it was perfect for us. We would definitely go back.

I've been coming to the Fairmont Mayakoba resort for over 5+ years and through Travelzoo and when we checked out we were hit with a $2k plus of 21% Govermental tax...You need to spell out explicitly the cost per day...and extra $300 a night for taxes along with the $500+ room rate to make it $800+ a night? No thanks!

Overall great! Staff are amazing.
All inclusive had too many restrictions, and off limit menu items or bars etc. If it’s all inclusive it should count.
Did not apply spa credit for one of our family members who used the spa services. Travelzoo did not say it was only for massage. She wasn’t even happy with her service and she cancelled subsequent bookings.
Rooms were nice but being in jungle there are lots of critters.
Beds and pillows just ok. Can be upgraded for comfort.
We have done a lot of all inclusive places in Mexico over the years. And while it was nice and exclusive at Fairmont we definitely didn’t think it was worth the money we paid compared to much less expensive hotels.
There was a lot of construction going on too. Which we knew was happening and likely why they offered this deal.

Although we bought a voucher for the all-inclusive package. Beware of the 21% tax and all the tips that are not included. We tip 15-20% off the menu prices which are astronomical. Our bill for both taxes and tips was about the half the price of the voucher. Would we do it again YES but want people to know upfront about this.

My family and I had a great time at the resort. We enjoyed all of our meals and the pool area. We enjoyed the beach club. The only complaint was check out. A small group of friends chose this location to celebrate a 50th Birthday. We had a delightful time. I can't say enough how friendly and attentive the staff were. The accomodations were quite divine. Our trip was in May, which is not the height of the season. So it wasn't sold out. That said, there were lots of people there, yet we felt like we had the place almost to ourselves. There are so many pools and restaurants to choose from. It was very special.

This was a wonderful resort - the food was exceptional, great quality drinks and wine selections, beautiful property with plenty of space such that we never felt like we were in a crowd. Beautiful rooms and property layout. One note is that there is not much entertainment or live music. Not a big issue for us but different than some other experiences we've had in the area - hands down the best place we've stayed in multiple trips to this part of Mexico!
