Being on the water is always a good thing. Visually, the tour was fine - it would have been much better if we could have understood the tour guide.
Other Comments
top deck seating was fine. However, the engine cooling fans were so noisy we could not hear, nor understand, anything the tour guide "Max" was saying. On the second hour, we moved into a protected on the top deck (away from the exhaust fans) and could easily understand the narrative. We mentioned this situation to a couple of staff, who largely didn't seem to care about this issue.

The water was pretty rough that day and I felt nauseous most of the trip so I could not enjoy the watching as much as I would have liked to.

Our docent was very knowledgeable and informative. You can tell she loves her job from her enthusiasm. We learned a lot about whales from her.

Did the two hour cruise. Booked on the phone with my voucher but I did not know I had to go to the ticket booth when you arrive so know that before getting in line! Parking was a little tricky. We paid $20 at a peer lot because, the Maritime Museum lot was four blocks away and we would not have made the cruise. I think one hour is enough, but the two hour gave us a lot of history and the staff were very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about San Diego! Was relaxing and educational. Highly recommend! A lot of bang for your buck.
