Welcoming staff. Hotel nice and bright. Has a cafe and a restaurant, pool and workout room. Centrally located in the historic area and walking distance from the cathedral.

The DeSoto had ongoing problems with their elevators which made our visit there very bad. There were upwards to 15-20 minutes waits on the upper floors of this hotel for two days (with 2 our of 3 elevators out of services) with no explanation from management and no posted announcement. But they were quick to let guests know about a 6 person limit while the rest of waited. The Manager on duty when we inquired about this problem, Akilah Jones, was especially rude. 5 guests, including me, wanted to speak to her about how long it was taking to repair. She refused to some out to come out and told us there would be compensation. We are still waiting. The hotel had many other smaller flaws that shows it has seen better days ad may have been under-staffed.

Nice hotel. The front desk staff Shannon and Raven were great. Also Xavier from valet was extremely helpful. Walking distance to everything. I definitely recommend staying here.

Beautiful hotel and great staff. Our only issue was a dirty bathroom floor and shower. Hopefully, the housekeeper just got interrupted and forgot to finish cleaning the bathroom. Highly recommend The Desoto, especially if you get a fantastic deal from Travelzoo, like we did!

I couldn't ask for a better location for exploring historic Savannah, GA. We appreciated the valet parking, no hassle trying to find a place to park.

Loved our stay here at the DeSoto. This was our first visit to Savannah and I was very happy with the centralized location. The hotel appeared to be renovated. The valets (the first staff that a guest meets) were especially cheerful and greeted us warmly. That made for a good 1st impression.

Guests should be warned about the cumbersome parking situation. The DeSoto charges an exhorbitant amount. They should have self parking for $20. The staff should inform the guests about the street parking challenges, and particularly to point out that street sweeping occurs on different days and to read the signs carefully. It was quite a hassle to keep moving my car during the 5 days I was there.

The check in process was a breeze. The location was a breeze to get to a ton of places. Unfortunately our rooms a/c was out of order & the room didn’t get below 73 on the hottest weekend of the summer. The elevator always had a long wait because only 1 was working. And the fire department was called to help some stuck guest get out of one of the elevator’s. Other than that the stay was pleasant & we would stay again just on a lower floor so we could take the stairs.

It took 2 hours past check in for the hotel to get our room ready. Also the hours for the on-site amenities were listed incorrectly on the website. The air vents were very dirty in our room.

My daughter and I had a great visit here! The location is wonderful and quieter than hotels closer to the river. The vacuuming and cleaning in the bathroom could have been a bit more thorough but it is an older property and I could tell that care is taken to maintain and clean it. The common spaces were lovely. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The bartender was chill, knowledgeable and skilled with our mocktaiks. It was too cold for us to go in the pool but the area was clean, pool was sparkling and it was a quiet, comfortable space. The breakfast restaurant was awesome, fresh, and fast. A fantastic latter and made to order breakfast sandwich. We had a but of trouble getting the smart tv aspect to work but we just decided on other activities and I’m sure they would have helped us if we had asked. Our bedside lamp did not work and the fixed it promptly. I only wish there had been a fridge in the room.

When we first arrived (3/19/25), we were assigned a room on the 13th floor. I informed the front desk staff , that i would like to be assigned a different floor and she just looked at me. Never said a thing, so my wife asked me to let it go. Upon reaching the elevators, I allowed another guest to go in front of me, as I entered the elevator, the doors shut on me. I was pulling my luggage behind me and the elevator door struck my elbow area and didn't reopen. The other guest had to intervene, I am now in extreme pain. We reach our room, and are greeted by a large roach, then A/C sounds like a motor train. We have to leave the room so I can get my mind off the pain. Upon leaving the hotel, I receive a text from "Raven" from the hotel greeting me and ask if everything was ok. I respond and explain everything in a reply text. She never responded. My wife and I go on our way and look for a pharmacy for some pain pills, Icy/Hot and a sling for my arm. Next morning I receive another text from "Raven". Again I text her the problems and also tell her that I am no in a Sling. A "Kathy" replies and tells me that she will send an engineer to look at the A/C issue. Completely ignoring my injured elbow (arm) and elevator noise. We check out on Friday(3/22/25). My whole 3 day mini vacation spent in pain and never a restful sleep. We finally reach our hometown in Texas and now trying to make an appointment with my Doctor for x-rays and treatment

My husband and I had passed through Savannah on numerous occasions, but we had never truly explored its beauty and history. The Desoto was beautifully appointed, situated in the heart of the city, and historic. On the east side, we walked to explore the river, shops, and restaurants. On the west side, antebellum Savannah awaited with the most incredible residential area; it was magical, particularly Jones Street.

The Desoto Savannah had everything going for it, but perhaps the most memorable was the true Southern hospitality of its staff. We have traveled abroad and domestically for decades, but we have never stayed in a place where the staff was kinder, more attentive, friendlier, professional, and willing to augment our stay by any way possible.

We traveled with an 8lb. Yorkshire Terrier and were STUNNED at check in to find out we had to pay an additional $150 for him! Non-refundable. We travel all over with a dog and the usual fee is $50. Can’t afford to return.

This is my 4th stay at the DeSoto. I can't imagine staying anywhere else while in Savannah.
The location is perfect and the staff is always so friendly. My only complaint is the lack of chairs on the balcony.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the city. When we arrived three hours before check in to ask if we could store our luggage, they let us check in early, which was hugely helpful. The staff were all really nice, and the location can't be beat - right in the middle of the historic district and an easy walk to the riverfront.

While my stay was positive and the cost was good, there was an issue with check-in due to communication between Travel Zoo and the hotel. I received a confirmation email upon booking the hotel, as well as a follow-up email about a week before my stay which confirmed that the hotel had been notified of my reservation. However, the hotel did not have record of my reservation under my name or booking number. They were able to book my stay separately at the same rate as Travel Zoo. I did ask where the breakdown in communication was, and they said it was with Travel Zoo not notifying them of the reservation.

Fitness facility & pool area was very sad & lacking. TV in our room was tiny, old & damaged. Had to run fan entire time to partially drown out loud sounds in next door room & elevator. Rude staff in lobby scolded me for drinking too much infused water. “1 cup per guest”. It’s water! Just put more in the dispenser!
