Poland: the Coastal Destination You Never Knew About

16 Nov 2016

Move over, Krakow and Warsaw - the Baltic coast is Poland’s new must-see destination. Only two hours’ flying time from the UK, it’s cheap, beautiful and a side of the country you’ve never seen before.

Why go in 2017

New direct routes to Gdansk from the northeast and Northern Ireland are launching next year. Thanks to this, plus existing routes from London and nine other UK cities, there have never been more options for visiting the "Polish Riviera". It’s also great value, with a pint setting you back around £1.50 and a 3-course meal for two at a decent restaurant about £25.

Insider tip

Don’t limit yourself to Gdansk. Take the 20-minute train ride to quirky Sopot, Poland’s answer to Brighton. Alternatively, head further west to the beautiful Slowinski National Park (pictured below), for a stroll among the dunes.

When to go

We recommend October, a time often called "golden autumn", when the weather is still warm, the trees are amber and the low sun casts a glowing light.
