Itinerary
Start your South American adventure with two nights at a 5-star hotel in Lima. You will venture to the Magic Water Park and Lights Show. It is the largest fountain complex in the world, and the waters are illuminated at night.

You'll then spend three nights in Cusco, an excellent base for tours in the Sacred Valley. Visit archaeological sites in Pisac, then explore Ollantaytambo and climb up the ruins of the hillside fortress. You will also take a panoramic train through the mountain mist to visit the world's most spectacular Inca site, Machu Picchu.

Next, fly to Chile's capital, Santiago for two nights. Lonely Planet describes the city as "cosmopolitan, energetic, sophisticated and worldly". From here, you'll be transferred to cruise port in San Antonio, approximately 90 minutes away. Embark on your cruise, calling at:

  • Puerto Montt… the city is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, volcanoes, and pristine lakes.
  • Puerto Chacabuco… this charming port sits at the head of the picturesque Aisén fjord. It is the gateway to Chilean Patagonia. You could visit the the Río Simpson National Reserve. It is famed for waterfalls and stunning canyons.
  • Punta Arenas… cruise through the Strait of Magellan to this port in Chile, with a monument dedicated to the pioneering explorer.
  • Ushuaia… often nicknamed "The End of the Earth", Ushuaia is the world's southernmost city.
  • Stanley… you'll make port at one of the world's most remote settlements in the Falkland Islands. You could join a tour to see Magellanic penguins at nearby Bluff Cove.
  • Montevideo… the Uruguayan, with hip craft markets and live street music, is compact and easy to explore on foot.
  • Buenos Aires (overnight on the ship)… the capital of Argentina is the original home of tango. It is also home to world-class museums, excellent restaurants, and vibrant nightlife.

Ship details
Holland America Line's Oosterdam is a mid-size ship carrying less than 2000 passengers at full capacity. It is most famous for its dedication to live music. Its signature Music Walk invites guests to hop between various live music bars. These include a recreation of B.B. King's Blues Club in Memphis.

The ship offers "a sophisticated on-board experience noted for its personalised service, premium amenities, and outstanding food", praises The Times. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included every day. There are Broadway-style shows and live music every evening, so you'll be entertained from dawn to dusk.
