Itinerary
- Reykjavik... start the adventure in Iceland's capital—home to half the island's population. The most popular optional excursions include the famous Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa. Or, tour the Golden Circle and see the Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysers, and Thingvellir National Park.
- Isafjordur... is home to old wooden cottages, bobbing fishing boats, and stunning mountain scenery. Be sure to visit the Troll Seat viewing point. Legend has it that a large troll flattened the area by sitting down on it.
- Akureyri... is the country's second-largest city. Book a whale watching excursion, or visit the cascading Dynjandi waterfall.
- Lerwick... is the main town of the Shetland Islands, and is great for wildlife spotting. There's an RSPB reserve at Sumburgh Head, where you might spot puffins.
- Amsterdam... you'll dock overnight here, so you'll have plenty of time to explore the city. Spend time in a cosy cafe, or perusing one of the excellent museums. You could hire a bike for an easy way to explore the canals.
