Itinerary
You'll kick off the trip with three nights in Tokyo. Your hotel is in the Ikebukuro neighbourhood, home to anime cafés, ramen shops, and sushi bars. You'll also stay in a room that's three categories higher than the entry-level type. During your stay, you'll get a full day trip to Mount Fuji and Hakone. You'll also get a quintessential Japanese travel experience with bullet train transfers back to Tokyo.
After three nights, you'll board Celebrity Millennium for a 12-night cruise, calling at:
- Shimizu... you'll get another chance at clear views of Mount Fuji here. The mountain is around 90 minutes from the port.
- Kyoto... stay overnight in port for more time to explore The City of Ten Thousand Shrines. Seek out traditional Japanese culture in the form of a tea ceremony or kimono weaving.
- Kochi... is another great port for exploring the more traditional side of Japan. You could visit Kochi Castle, which dates back to the 1600s, or the papermaking museum.
- Hiroshima... will always evoke images of the atomic bomb, but nowadays you'll find a thriving city. Visit the contemplative memorials to the past, or hop on a ferry to Miyajima Island.
- Busan... venture across to South Korea to explore the country's second largest city. Skyscrapers, mountains, and beaches shape this bustling city, with coastal vistas and fresh seafood to enjoy.
- Hakodate... soak in the hot springs of Yunokawa Onsen (chargeable), with views of the Tsugaru Strait. Or, discover historic forts like Goryokaku—a star-shaped fort built in the late Edo period.
- Aomori... is located in the northernmost part of Japan's main island. It boasts lush landscapes beyond the port that are well worth a visit. Closer by you'll find museums and art galleries to explore.
