Itinerary highlights

  • Ijmuiden (for Amsterdam)... make port at a Dutch town around an hour from Amsterdam on the train. The city is blissfully calm in February.
  • Alesund... enjoy a scenic cruise along Geirangerfjord before disembarking in the center of Alesund. The city is distinctive for its Art Nouveau flair. Climb the 400 steps to Fjellstua viewpoint (or get a taxi) for stunning fjord views.
  • Tromsø... your first port above the Arctic Circle. The chance of spotting the Northern Lights rapidly increases from here. A cable-car can whisk you to the mountaintop, where there's a café with regional delicacies.
  • Alta (overnight onboard)... known as the capital of the Northern Lights. It is the most northern city in the world. You'll spend the night in port so you can explore off the ship. Fingers crossed you'll see Mother Nature at her finest.
  • Narvik... sail back south and see a traditional town in a spectacular setting. Polar Park is around an hour's drive away. Within 114 acres, you can spot wolves, brown bears, lynx, moose, and reindeer.
  • Bodø... was European Capital of Culture for 2024. The revamped museum showcases the culture of the Indigenous Sámi people. The town has also developed as a hub for Arctic cuisine.
  • Bergen... travel further south towards the famous fjords. You'll get spectacular views sailing into Bergen, which is circled by seven hills. The city is famous for its picture-perfect clapboard houses, all beautifully preserved.
