Itinerary
Upon arrival in Colombo, you'll be met by your guide and transferred to Sigiriya. Relax for the evening, before setting off in the morning to Sigiriya's ancient rock fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage Site rises dramatically from the surrounding plains, offering panoramic views from the summit.
The following day starts with a visit to the Dambulla cave temple, adorned with painted murals and Buddha statues. Then, head to the beautiful village of Hiriwadunna. Take a boat ride across the river to a farmer's home, where you will share a traditional meal.
Depart for Kandy, stopping at the Matale spice garden, home to some of Sri Lanka's famous cinnamon. In the evening, you'll be treated to a show of traditional music and dance, which dates back centuries.
On your second day, see the sacred Temple of the Tooth, which is said to hold a piece of the Buddha's tooth. Later, wander through the lush Royal Botanical Gardens, and take a contemplative stroll through the British Garrison Cemetery.
In the morning, ride a heritage blue train to Nuwara Eliya. Take in views of past tea plantations, picturesque villages, and rushing waterfalls. Once you've arrived, you are free to explore in the notably cooler climate.
The next day takes you to a working tea plantation, before journeying on towards Beruwala. On the way, stop at the cascading Devon and St. Clair waterfalls. Then, visit the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project, a coastal sanctuary dedicated to preserving these gentle creatures.
The rest of your trip is spent at leisure in Beruwala. Relax on the golden beaches and wander the local markets. Optional excursions are available for an additional cost, like a safari through Yala National Park.
