Itinerary highlights
- Day 1: Arrive in Lisbon and spend the evening relaxing.
- Day 2: Take a guided tour of Lisbon, Portugal's capital city. You'll also tuck into pasteis de nata and ginjinha, a sweet berry liqueur.
- Day 3: Visit Sesimbra, a former fishing village that's now a whitewashed beach town. Next, head to Azeitão, known for its wine production. Sample local moscatel wine at a famous wine cellar. Continue to Arrábida Natural Park, home to some of the best beaches in Portugal.
- Day 4: Travel to the historical town of Alcácer do Sal. Wander through winding alleyways, then visit the Church of Santa Maria do Castelo. Continue to Beja and visit a local tavern to try delicious produce. There will also be a wine tasting experience at the Vale da Rosa estate.
- Day 5: Explore Beja, which sits atop a knoll and was founded by Julius Caesar. Next, travel to Serpa to taste locally-produced cheeses.
- Day 6: Begin the day with a trip to Mértola. This quiet town's imposing castle is surrounded by quaint cobbled streets and charming whitewashed houses. Explore at leisure before continuing to Santo Antonio.
- Day 7: In Sao Bras de Alpotel you'll learn about the town's cork production. Then travel to Faro, the capital of the Algarve. Stroll past the marina and through bustling plazas to the Old Town. The final stop will be Tavira. Take in a wealth of Renaissance and Baroque history here.
- Day 8: Visit Lagos, from where many of the greatest explorers embarked to discover the New World. Then on to Sagres, where you'll find a 15th-century fortress.
- Day 9: Finish in Santo Antonio. Stroll through the main square to the town's only church, which features beautiful stained-glass windows. You can join a number of optional excursions for an extra fee.
