Itinerary

• Tokyo... as well as some free time to explore the sprawling city at your own pace, you'll get a full-day tour, encompassing the museum of Hokusai, the characteristic Asakusa district, home to the Senso-ji Temple (the oldest in the city), the Imperial Palace, and the elegant Ginza district. Finish off at the Bunkyo Civic Center, a skyscraper with a viewing platform offering panoramic city views. 
• Kanazawa... ride the bullet train from Tokyo to Kanazawa, where we recommend you visit the beautiful Kenroku-en park, and the Nagamachi Yuzen-kan, where you can see traditional silk kimonos displayed. You'll then take a coach to Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site village with characteristic sloping thatched roof houses.
• Takayama... stay overnight in a traditional ryokan guest house, with dinner included in the evening. We recommend visiting the Sanmachi-suji district, with its sake factories and craft shops. In the morning, you could also visit the markets before hopping on a bullet train to Hiroshima.
• Hiroshima... you'll have two nights to explore the city at your own leisure. We recommend visiting the Peace Memorial Museum and Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome, as well as taking the ferry over to Miyajima island. 
• Kyoto... take a full-day tour of the city, including the Kiyomizu-dera temple, the Ryoan-ji temple with its zen garden, and the golden Kinkaku-ji temple. You'll also get a day in Nara, where thousands of deer roam freely, and stop off at the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine with its endless red gates.  

You'll then fly back to London from Osaka—your guide will be able to assist you in arranging the most convenient way to get to the airport.
