Itinerary
- Kathmandu... explore the UNESCO-listed Durbar Square and the sacred Hindu shrine of Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. This is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world.
- Chitwan National Park... wind through lush river valleys on your way to Nepal's dense jungle. Wild rhinos, tigers, leopards, deer, and more call this national park home. Visit an indigenous village, go canoeing, and take a nature walk and a jeep safari
- Pokhara... overlooks the emerald-hued Lake Phewa. Barter at the Old Bazaar and visit the Gurkha Museum. Admire views of the Himalayas from Bindabasini Temple, then visit Devi's Fall and Gupteshwor Cave. Finally, watch the sun set over the lake.
- Thimphu... is the capital of Bhutan. Take a trip to a Buddhist nunnery, a traditional art school, and the National Textile Museum. Spot Bhutan's national animal—the takin—at a nature reserve. Hike through the forest to Changangkha Temple.
- Punakha... lies in the Punakha Valley. Travel along the Dochu La Pass, one of Bhutan's most breath-taking mountain passes. Admire views of the Eastern Himalayas, then visit the 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang temple. This temple is only accessible by walking through paddy fields. You'll also explore Punakha Dzong, one of the country's most impressive buildings.
- Paro... is surrounded by forested mountain peaks. Tour the National Museum and the Rinpung Dzong fortress. You'll also hike 2-3 hours to visit the clifftop Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery).
