The 5-star VidaMar Resort Hotel Madeira has direct access to the sea from an oceanfront platform with several swimming pools (open year-round, depending on weather conditions) surrounded by a spacious private deck with loungers.

The 2000-square-metre Thalasso Sea Spa focuses on the natural healing properties of seawater. It has a vitality pool, a steam room, and a sauna, plus indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. The health club has a gym and squash courts, and offers a variety of aerobics classes.***

In addition to the main buffet restaurant, there are four speciality restaurants, including the modern sushi-fusion restaurant KOI, and venues serving Italian and traditional Madeiran espetada (meat grilled on skewers), where you can take dine-around meals from set menus.

You'll stay in a Superior Room with uninterrupted views over the Atlantic, a furnished private balcony, a plasma TV with cable channels, a seating area, a fridge, and free Wi-Fi.
