Beautiful setting, pleasant room with very comfortable beds and a great bathroom. Really good breakfasts in lovely surroundings. The only thing which would have improved the stay would be brighter lighting in the room, especially for reading.

Everything was lovely. Easy check in, great room. We enjoyed the complimentary bottle of prosecco. We booked the swimming as soon as we arrived and had a great hour swimming. There is currently no steam room or sauna but were told this would happen later in the year. The food in the restaurant was superb. The only thing that let the weekend down was checkout. There were lots of problems with people's bills and only 1 member of staff who was competent to sort them out. We waited almost 30 minutes as I wanted a copy of our bill. Although the bill was correct we had an additional £50 taken from my account.

The hotel is in a beautiful position overlooking Rutland water, with lovely gardens. The restaurant is good with a relaxed atmosphere, although we thought it was pricy for what was on offer. Our room was comfortable, good bed and pillows, and the bathroom was spacious, plenty of hot water, but had no extractor fan so condensation was a massive problem, with tiled floor getting very slippery.

Restaurant & bar staff pleasant but poorly trained e.g. large glass for white wine smaller glass for red.
Waiter leaned across us to serve person the other side instead of walking round. Had to ask for spoons when dessert came but completely ignored.
If you have a dog expect to sit next to the doorway where it was freezing and even had different table and chairs to the rest of the restaurant - noted my dog was better behaved than kids at the better tables.

Very contemporary style not normally our thing but very comfortable. We had a superior room with lake view and it was very well situated with a lovely view. Food although expensive dud fit into our allocated dinner deal but was very good and staff were all very attentive and helpful. There was real disappointment with the evening menu which was more about style than substance. There was real confusion in the selection of dishes and it was difficult to find different options for the two evenings that we were present. As an example celeriac, Jerusalem artichokes and ratatouille with sea bream was unappealing. Breakfast options saved the day!

Rutland Hall is a complex of lodge and mews blocks. when you want too go to the Bar or Restaurant its a short outdoor walk away. Fine on a warm summer night but on a wet, windy evening in February not quite so pleasant.
We were in a Cosy Room and it was just that, cosy.........the room was beautifully decorated with a lovely ensuite but the bed was a double rather than king size so spent all night feeling like i was about to roll out of bed.

Our upgraded room was absolutely gorgeous. The view was stunning and the bed was soo comfortable. Couldn’t have wished for more.
The hotel itself spread over many different areas. I was disappointed that there wasn’t a communal area with a bar apart from the restaurant and bar. This was extremely busy with Sunday lunches and was almost impossible to get a drink. We would have loved to have had a sandwich or snack but none were available. Shame as we were booked into our evening meal at 6.30 and didn’t want to eat a huge meal. There was no where within walking distance to get a snack. Maybe a little leeway for residents would be good.
I also chose this hotel as wanted to play the pitch and put and bowls but both were closed for the winter. I had e mailed previously about both of these activities and was told I could arrive before my check in to play. On arrival, both were closed for the winter. Bad communication which could have been better.
On checking in we were directed to the restaurant via a very steep set of steps. We later found out that there was a footpath with no steps. Unfortunately I have severe difficulty with steps as am awaiting a knee replacement. Bad communication again.
I found it slightly disappointing that you had to go via outside to go to the restaurant having dressed up and had my hair done. This isn’t very clear in the hotel details.
We did enjoy our time. The room was fabulous. The restaurant staff and bar staff far too busy to deal effectively with all the visitors. Needs fine tuning with some extras and would be amazing all round

Beautiful hotel, fabulous location and room with amazing views. Deal included a bottle of Prosecco and £35 credit each at the hotel’s restaurant, Blossoms. What a big disappointment the meal there was. Very mediocre food (that’s being polite!), no atmosphere at all. Breakfast was worse still - by 8.45 am it was all either cold or luke warm. Vile. All self service, even drinks - so why so many staff swarming around doing nothing? As much as we loved the hotel the restaurant utterly lets it down, and we won’t be returning. Shame.

The Reception Desk, our room and restaurant were in three separate buildings. Whilst the distance between any of the buildings is not huge there are 40 outside and exposed steps to/ from the restaurant - fine if you are fit and active and it is not raining.
Before going to the restaurant I phoned Reception to ask if there was a lift to take us up to the restaurant and I was told that there wasn’t. We climbed the steps to the restaurant!!! I was ok but my wife found it very difficult and needed a number of rests on the way up.
Following a reasonable meal which we enjoyed we made our way back down the steps to our room.
In the restaurant they staff mentioned that there was a golf style buggy available for bringing guests to the restaurant . No mention was made of this when we checked in.
The following morning we called into Reception to make enquiries about the buggy to take us up to the restaurant for breakfast. Sorry, we were told but the buggy is out of action but there is a lift in another accommodation block which will take us up two floors and then leaving only half a dozen steps to reach the restaurant!!!
The steps apart, we enjoyed our stay at Rutland Hall.
The room was very good except that there were no coat hooks to hang wet outdoor clothes and there was no fridge. Bed was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom clean and functional.

Lovely night away with my sister. Travelzoo deal was for a double room so had to pay extra to 'upgrade' to a twin room which was very small but comfortable. A lovely stay with good facilities and a very good restaurant. The hotel grounds and surrounding areas were very pleasant. Hotel staff were very friendly and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Liked the decor in rooms and in Blossoms Restaurant. Especially enjoyed visiting Oakham and Rutland Water. It was a bit of a walk to the restaurant and swimming pool, with some steps to negotiate, but fortunately we had dry weather and used the lift for part of way. We would be happy to visit in the future.

We had a fantastic stay at the Rutland Hall hotel. I upgraded my room from the original TravelZoo deal and we were accommodated in a Superior room which was absolutely wonderful. The room was so spacious and had terrific views out across the Rutland Water. We were there to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday and on arrival in the room we were greeted by a dozen balloons and a lovely note from the staff wishing my wife a happy birthday - such a lovely and personal touch. The location was superb and I can imagine that in a warmer time of the year it would be fantastic to sit out on the balcony to enjoy the views .

Nice sitting area at reception but had to walk outside from our rooms to get there and a tea / coffee drinks facility would have been nice there.
Good maps of local area and the very spread out facilities provided.
Other Comments
1) The cosy double room that our friends had was ridiculously small, why make rooms this small in this day and age. An American visitor would be outraged.
2) Our room was a complementary upgrade as we asked for a twin but neither room had a bathroom fan thus both our rooms were damp after showers. Ambient temp was zero.
3) Restaurant is too expensive. The £35 allowances could not cover 3 courses. A beetroot salad starter would only fill a desert spoon and cost £9 and I had a £24 lamb bhuna curry which contained large lumps of fat and gristle. There were no cheaper options on the menu. A complaint to the chef received only a sorry from a waitress Minimum wine cost £25.
4) safe didn’t work, toilet cistern running continuously, walls paper thin.
5) This is not a 4 star hotel.

The main hotel looks lovely if you’re staying in the main building, but being relegated to the accommodation blocks bears no comparison to the main photos, the rooms are however well heated.

The water is supplied by a shared tank so absolutely no hot water in the morning in the bathrooms and the staff are fully aware of this problem as it was no surprise to them at reception! The rooms are well appointed but having a freezing shower and then same for my teeth somehow spoilt the experience and I haven’t heard back from them after my complaint about this either. My advice is if you choose to stay here have a bath or shower the night before! Rooms in the adjacent blocks feel a bit like a motel.

We called down to reception to ask if there was anything nut free to go with the tea. They said they would get back to us. Never did. We called back, they said they could do some fruit and they would bring it up. They never did. Twice ignored. The staff in the restaurant were shouting at each other and one kicked the door open to get through it. We had to wait 5 hours to get booked into the restaurant with nothing to eat for the person with a nut allergy. These are only minor points but all together they just made for a bad experience.

We booked a night away and it didn’t disappoint. Hotel is superb, staff very friendly and helpful and the meal we had on the evening was outstanding. The hotel is spread out, but that adds a lovely relaxed feel to it we thought, and the views you get from around the resort are just beautiful. You can’t help but relax. Ideal location for the path round Rutland Water, bike hire is close by as well. We loved it and thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Our experience was ok but not as good as expected. Service in restaurant was efficient and friendly but food a little overpriced and some items at breakfast were cold. Staff at reception were polite but not really welcoming or interested. Hotel is well-situated but needs a clear, paved path down to stile which takes you to path around Rutland Water. Also needs to be signposted. Room was fine for just one night but hairdryer not working. One of EV charging points not working. Could be really good but just needs a bit more attention to detail.

Value for money because it was on your deal not so much if paying full price.
Bedroom was good, bathroom lacked a bit of thought to detail and finish. was very big but only had a wall mounted fan heater. Location great for the water. but a bit remote, restaurant food and drinks very over priced,

Only small downside for two octogenarians was the location of the restaurant; reached by means of either by a long external staircase or an even longer steep path.

We had a lovely room with a balcony that looks over Rutland water. The weather was not good enough for us to really enjoy the balcony, as it was the 20th of December, however, in the good weather, it would be lovely to sit and just enjoy the fabulous view. We loved the room, we thought it was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. We felt the room was well equipped but it would have been great to have a mini fridge especially if you were visiting in the warmer weather. We were on a special deal which included a bottle of prosecco and £35 each towards the evening meal at Blossom Restaurant just behind our accommodation. The food was well presented but not as hot as we would of liked. We would also suggest, it would be an advantage to be able to order extra sides to accompany the main meal. We would definitely like to visit again for longer in the spring, summer or early autumn.

I wouldn't call it a spa, it's just a hotel with a pool, the jacuzzi didn't work and the pool was closed the first night we were there which was disappointing. There is a small gym and a squash court which they didn't tell us about.
The grounds are lovely, very close to the lake. The decor throughout is very nice. Our bathroom had terrible condensation to the point there were puddles on the floor, they need double glazing.
The menu only had two gluten free options and portions were on the small side for the price, but it was an interesting menu with nice flavours, breakfast was good. The staff were really helpful. There's a good atmosphere, lots of people staying there who were very friendly.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but wouldn't rush back.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Our superior room with lake view was spacious and clean. The super king bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast was buffet style. Plenty of choice even for GF. Our evening meal was delicious again plenty of choices my only complaint was there was just one dessert choice for GF but it still was tasty.
The staff all around were pleasant helpful and efficient. We’ll definitely be back probably in the spring or summer so we can walk the wonderful views.

Pros: Country setting. Beautiful views of the lakes. Quiet and relaxing. Clean warm and cosy rooms, nice decor and well kept gardens surrounding the hotel complex. Excellent breakfast. Pork belly and gravy was fantastic. Lovely dining room. Friendly staff. Lovely piano in dining hall ( but unfortunately no one playing it during our stay).
Cons: checking in at 3pm = 1 person on reception = 1 very long queue. Check in process could be optimised a lot! Does not give a good first impression. One coffee machine for everyone in the dining room = a queue again + no alternative options offered when the machine decides to go jnto cleaning mode. A cosy double bed is what I would term a large single bed.

Amazing break away at a stunning hotel. Such a great deal. £139 for a lovely cosy room, delicious meal and equally as delicious breakfast plus late check out and bottle of Prosecco chilling in our room. Little details like a covered walk way so you don’t get wet from your room to the restaurant. Beautifully renovated throughout as we had previously visited a few years back. We didn’t visit the spa this time so cannot comment. Will definitely be returning.
