Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel is on the site of a former coaching inn from the 15th century. It features a beamed lounge and a sleek cocktail bar.
  • Guestrooms are spread across three buildings around a central courtyard. They have bespoke furnishings, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
  • The Westgate Towers Museum and Viewpoint is less than five minutes' walk away. It has aerial views of the city from the battlements.
  • Canterbury is the historic home of the Church of England. It "tops the charts for English cathedral cities" according to Lonely Planet.
  • The city was one of the busiest pilgrimage sites in the Middle Ages. Its cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 10 minutes' stroll from the hotel.

We were sked to book for breakfast which we did but it did seem to be a bit chaotic! Food was excellent.

The Falstaff is perfectly located for exploring central Canterbury. The hotel does not provide evening meals, but this is understandable given the many good restaurants within easy walking distance. Although parking was not guaranteed, we were able to park our car in the hotel car park for the duration of our stay, Our room had very limited space in which to store and hang up clothes. To summarize, we were very satisfied with the Falstaff.

A lovely 15th century hotel which has been modernised inside to a very high standard. We stayed in a large comfortable room, with direct access to our own private, walled-in terrace, complete with table and chairs. The hotel bar and lounge areas were comfortable, and we enjoyed a couple of their Chaucer-themed cocktails. The hotel is centrally located, and a 15 minute enjoyable walk from the Cathedral. We were in town on Easter Sunday, and attended 2 Cathedral services, with the Archbishop in attendance. A lovely time to be in Canterbury and stay in such a fab hotel!

The Falstaff is a modern and well appointed hotel in a splendid location for the Cathedral, museum and other city centre attractions. The building’s decor is up-to-date, pleasing to the eye and well thought out. Although there is no restaurant at this hotel the standard of the breakfast meal was very good and served with a smile by very friendly and helpful staff. Having no restaurant is not a problem because the location of the hotel has many different and varied eateries within very short walking distances. All in all a very pleasant stay for a couple of days.
