Why We Love This Hotel

  • Colwall Park is on the western edge of the Malvern Hills, between Malvern and Ledbury. A footpath from the hotel's garden leads directly into the hills.
  • The restaurant has oak panelling, wrought-iron chandeliers. and a stone fireplace. The menu offers modern British cuisine. For lighter meals, guests can head to the bar.
  • The hotel is well located for exploring the 40-mile Black and White Village Trail. It takes in Weobley, Eardisland, and Pembridge villages. They are notable for their Medieval black-and-white-painted half-timbered houses.
  • Eastnor Castle and the spa town of Great Malvern are around 10 minutes' drive away.
  • The dramatic ruins of Witley Court, a 17th-century Italianate mansion, are 40 minutes' drive away.

Excellent hotel & pub, but it is somewhat out of town with little close by. Superb centre for walks, particularly as a dog owner, which we are not.

Staff are great & work really hard. Breakfast service, however was very slow.

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were great. Hotel decor is tired with room decoration poorly finished. A pleasant understated hotel well located for hill walks and adventures further afield. Food menu limited but of good quality.

Lovely hotel in a great location. We were given an upgrade on our room which was fantastic. Breakfast was good, lovely sausages! Staff not overly friendly though which may put us off returning!

We dined one night evening meal on steak, which it has to be said was very well cooked.

Muddled ethos . More a walkers hostel than a country house hotel . Past refurbishments used cheapest and poorest quality materials. Including a thin coat of everything in dark green upcycling emulsion paint ostensibly to modernise outdated saleroom darkwood furniture and ruined hertage oak/mahogany wall paneling. Chef called in sick so no hot breakfast food one morning or 3. Dinner has to be taken in an extension room of the one bistro themed bar, and there is no lounge to sit in a comfortable although ample ground floor room space could be much better used as a lounge.

It is a beautiful location, and well located if you needed to use the train.

The lack of staff for the breakfast rush. Day 1 the breakfast late, and missing items we had asked for. Day 2, was VERY late and there was no juice, or butter on the continental table. There were about 5 tables waiting for their breakfast, and most of the remaining tables were full of dirty crockery and cutlery. The decor in most areas was shoddy and in need of renovation.

We weren’t told on checking in that the gas in the kitchen wasn’t working…hence limited menu It was my partner’s 50th & instead of steak we ended up with chicken ceaser salad No fish & chips either, just sandwich options for dinner or pizza Also the key didn’t work for our room & the radiator next to the bed made a funny noise

We had a very pleasant stay though if we went back we would book a delux room. The bathroom was a little small and dated.
Other Comments
We ate in the first night, inspite of a limited menu as there was a problem with the gas in the kitchen, the meal was excellent. We didn’t eat there the second night as we had been invited out by a friend. Both breakfasts were delicious, and a varied choice.

Would highly recommend this hotel. Great location for walking, friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast and spacious rooms. Couldn't fault the hotel at all.
