Menu choice not food I would have chosen (starter/main) but was very nice. One very big downside was that the restuarant was cold. We bought a very nice bottle of wine but it needed warming up and consequently becuase of the room temperature it did not so spoilt somewhat the visit. The waitres did apologise for the cold. We had coffee in the lounge,foyer where there was a log fire and blankets which was so much nicer. So many restuarants make false economies by not heating the rooms properly and so detracting greatly from the overall experience.

Plenty of parking. Made very welcome and led to a smart and well spaced dining room. Plenty of attention and help re ordering food, which was excellent with varied choices from the 4 of us. No move to hurry us out, so we had a not just an enjoyable meal but also a pleasant chat time with good friends.

Thanks to your restaurant and catering staff for a most enjoyable and comfortable lunch visit.
You billing system limited itself to only making a service charge of £4 against our extras. Having read your small print we were keen and happy to make this up to ~12.5% of what would have been your approx. full normal charge. We were pleased to do this since everything was spot on. I hope that others are doing the same and your staff are not missing out because your charging system does not pick up on this.

We had booked the restaurant but when we arrived they said it was not available and wanted us to eat in the pub. We complained and they sat us in a corner of the restaurant which they were getting ready for a party later that day. So we sat alone on what was our 55th Wedding Anniversary. Very disappointing especially as what we ordered was double the price we had already paid It took over an hour to get there

We had enjoyed the 3 course meal at lunchtime and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is charming with 15 centuries black wooden beams as well as the lovely big old chimney.

We went as a group of 10, and were asked to preorder our meals. This made it very easy and straightforward once we were there. Lovely food, and excellent staff. One person was unable to come on the evening, but was able to collect their meal as a ‘take away’, which I thought was amazing service considering we were using vouchers.

Parking is difficult in the High St . worth mentioning they have plenty of parking at the rear , through the archway . Not busy but food took too long to arrive but good when it did .

We had been there a few weeks earlier with a Travelzoo voucher. This time the menu had changed, and the prices were higher, so that there were fewer options within the voucher limit. We both wanted the arancini starter, but they didn't have any, so I had the soup, which was very good, and my partner had the prawns, which were above the voucher limit. We both wanted sea bass, but that wasn't available either. My partner had chicken, which was good, and I had fish and chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, but the mushy peas weren't mushy; they were ordinary peas which had been bashed about a bit. We both had the Old Amersham mess, which was excellent. We would go again, and hope that everything on the menu was actually available.
