Gorgeous hotel, our room was lovely with an extremely large power shower, a very comfortable bed. Evening meal was very good with friendly staff and a large breakfast with plenty of options. The eggs benedict was very tasty. Will certainly return.

The hotel was beautiful. Very spacious, clean, well decorated, staff very helpful. The only fault for me personally was the bed was too soft.

The service from the staff was the best thing about this hotel. They are hard working, diligent and courteous particularly the restaurant staff at breakfast and the evening staff, without exception.
We will be making a formal complaint to the hotel, this was suppose to be a birthday treat of which we had travelled 250 miles to experience and my husband and I were upset and disappointed.

This was not a five star experience at this hotel. On arrival or checkout, there was no valet service at all, we were told there is only one valet and he had gone home. The Bell boy was at reception and watched us struggle up the hotel steps approx six/seven steps to the entrance and once we were in the hotel only then came over to check if we wanted our luggage taking the very short distance over to the lift and up to our room. The room itself looked lovely on first appearance however on checking the bathroom door was patched up following significant damage looked like a hole had been kicked or made through the door and the mattress was very old and covered in dark stains ?urine or vomit it was disgusting. I have taken photographs of the mattress. The offer include a three course evening meal, the starter consisted one ravioli in a sauce, the main we choose was at most a third of a Chicken breast with a sauce and parsnip curls. It was about the size of a small childs portion. We complained to the receptionist and requested that she checked the state of the room/mattress and how disappointing the meal and whole experience was.

We enjoyed our stay but the food was disappointing. Restaurant is closed Monday to Wednesday and ate in the bar area which was ok. The main course was very basic chicken and chips and I had to send mine back because it was cold. The other main rump steak with a pile of boiled rice and kidney beans not very appetising. The room was lovely but we had to ask for dressing gowns and not sure that the toiletries were luxurious just bottles on the wall. The cooked breakfast was good and enjoyable

The staff and the service we received were both exceptional. As you would expect the hotel was spotlessly clean. The room was superb. The only fly in the ointment was the fact that due to low numbers we had to dine in the bar and not the restaurant. In the bar at that time there was an exceptionally noisy group which did take the shine off the dining experience. Hence the reason for the low rating for ambiance.

Only gave 3 stars for the room as it needs refreshing. One of the bedside lamps wasn't working properly and the attention to detail of the cleanliness was lacking. The coverlet on the bed had hairs on it and a very dubious- looking stain.

Got an upgrade to executive suite which was a bonus. Lovely room.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic had to ask for teaspoon for tea then butter for toast and milk for tea.which you wouldn’t expect for a 5 star hotel Apart from that it was great. Would definately stay again

Perfect from start to finish. The Travelzoo voucher meant that we enjoyed a 5* stay, including dinner, bed & breakfast, and parking, for only 18% more than Premier Inn were quoting for that particular night. A free upgrade to an executive room on arrival was the icing on the cake!
