The hotel's contemporary restaurant offers all day dining, Sunday roasts, afternoon tea, and brunch. There is a terrace looking out to the sea. Plus (available for hire at a supplement) a heated outdoor pod for private dining.
The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from Clacton-on-Sea. This bustling coastal town has a pleasure pier, beaches, theatres, and family-friendly amusements.
The genteel seaside resort of Frinton-on-Sea is around 15 minutes away by car. Find a promenade, colourful Victorian-style beach huts, and tea rooms aplenty,
Spot common and grey seals at Hamford Water National Nature Reserve. Or visit the Essex Wildlife Trust Naze Nature Discovery Centre, situated beside Naze Tower. Both are approximately 20 minutes' drive away.
Lavenham is just under an hour's drive from the hotel. It's considered Britain’s best preserved Medieval village and was a filming location for "Harry Potter".

They provided us with a family room when complained about the original allocated room where located right next to the boiler room. It’s a pity there was no bath tub but only a shower with less pressure.

Been to the Kingscliff several times and is our go to place for frequent visits to Clacton on Sea.
Friendly, efficient staff, excellent quality food and drink and in a great location. Well appointed rooms although some are car park facing & offer no sea views.
Overall a delightful, relaxing place to stay.

Location is excellent for the sandy beach and long promenade walk. The hotel has a sheltered garden to sit in, at the front, overlooking the sea.

I feel that Travelzoo members are offered a discount rate for rooms that are already the cheapest . Our room was at the back, in the car park, in an annex, with a small high window.

Breakfast felt it was not the standard of service I expect but food was good. Had evening meal and couldn’t fault went out of their way to accommodate me with my dietary requirements. The front of house manager was exceptionally helpful

The only thing I felt was a bit of a problem the fact that there were no coasters in the room to put a glass on and this was a bit of a problem as it could potentially ruin the wood

Excellent location right opposite the beach and a short drive from there through to all the shops and restaurants of Clacton-on-Sea, as well.

We arrived on a Sunday. My fault I had only printed off one form, we had booked two, I had paid when booking but because I didn't have 2nd form with pin number I had to pay again. When I phoned Travelzoo Monday morning they immediately sorted it out for me and arranged for a refund. 5 stars to Travelzoo for their action and help.

Stayed for two nights. We upgraded to a sea view room which had a lovely view with very large bed. Bathroom was rather small with no bath. Room was very clean but a little tired looking. Large free car park at back of hotel & great location on the seafront. Large bar area with loads of seating although it can get very busy & noisy at times. Staff were all very friendly although service could be a little slow. The only real disappointment was the breakfast, the cooked breakfast was fine but spoiled by cheap bread & pastries & concentrated juice on continental buffet. Overall good value for money based on what we paid.

The room was acceptable apart from the dirty glass. The bathroom was lovely and big with a bath and separate shower. The bathroom could’ve done with a blind.

Our stay this time was sadly not quite as good as before.
Staff were insufficient to cope with bar demands on a very busy Sat night.
Room not laid up as agreed and reminded on each occasion. Leah, Senior Receptionist, very kindly remedied.
Shower items: one empty and the other facing wrong way so unable to read label, remedied by the housekeeping but on second day.
Sunday night, sold out of roast dinners when we arrived for our 7 booking. Other diners were equally disappointed. Fish and chips excellent, which we then ate on both nights. Restaurant waiter lovely and very attentive. Breakfast staff seemingly untrained and uninterested.
Queried original bill as overpaid when booking, refunded by receptionist.
Monday breakfast lacking their usual fresh fruit cocktail, choice was cut water melon and whole oranges and apples.
Our sea facing room is lovely and will certainly return, hoping that these problems are resolved.

Disappointed this time as Easter wasent advised about package maybe stayed longer general manager was going to discuss after speaking with head off as they made booking. I have sent email and called to speak with him hence no response not very happy did not return call or respond to email we both ate at resturant on both evenings I was going to visit the hotel that has spa but now I am reconsidering weather to visit any more surya hotels I await feed back comments

This is a lovely place, it’s really clean and loved and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The location is great as it’s right on the sea front, there is free parking and the food is great.

Was not expecting too much on this short break but very pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The room was quite small for us as a couple but we were planning on not spending much time in there. Only 2 coat hangers in the open wardrobe. However it was warm and cosy and very clean and the shower was powerful. We decided to eat in the restaurant the first night. The food was excellent. Hot, prepared and cooked well and the service from the barman and serving staff could not have been beaten. I had the Calves liver, my husband the fish and chips. After a long walk along the coast to Frinton-on-Sea (where there are lots of lovely independent shops) the next day we had another superb meal at the hotel. Crispy sticky Pork and the Steak & Ale Pie. We weren't aware that housekeeping did not apply but that was not a problem on lur 2 night break. We were expecting a bit of.a run down typical Bditish seaside hotel - this was not it. It was well decorated with stylish furniture and very welcoming. The hotel certainly has a good staffing Polk y az everyone had a smile and was willing to help with anything.

Lovely welcome by receptionist, and all staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is smart and attractively decorated, with a great position directly across the road from the seafront. The restaurant serves good food all day, from brunch through lunch and dinner.

We were allocated to the accessible room, which was clean and very spacious. The bathroom was huge, with handrails and a wet-room type of shower with shower stools/chairs available.

Another guest bursting into our room because the reception staff had given him the wrong room key
and we had already been their 3 days ! The apology from the staff was very mediocre, sorry ! Then to cap it all following our return to the room after dinner the staff had cancelled our room key !
The resturant staff where extremely noisy shouting to each other at each end of the breakfast room whilst we where having breakfast and cleaning down the next table to us with a spray whilst we where eating breakfast. The evening menu was exactly the same as last April no change to it !
