Fantastic, historic inn in a great location and with ghost stories and historic tales aplenty involving all parts of the building. A couple of lovely lounges for residents only and an old world bar with plenty of drink options, including 3 well chosen real ales, and the largest fireplace I have ever seen. Charlie who runs the bar is chatty and charismatic and an asset to this part of the Inn. All the staff were very welcoming and nicely relaxed; a welcome difference from large chain hotels I visit.

Excellent food although there was a delay in cooked breakfast being served on the first morning (very, very busy). The staff were always polite and helpful when required. We had requested a twin bedded room which was which we were allocated without a problem, whilst the bath had a shower attachment, there was hook or shower curtain so it could not be used as a normal shower, as I am now of an age that getting in and out of a bath is virtually impossible this meant washing in the basin was the only option. Personally I found the mattress on the single bed was too soft on the edges and it was easy to slip out of the bed, although my partner found it really comfortable.

We were very impressed by the attentiveness and efficiency of the bar and serving staff - excellent.
