The Devonshire Fell is part of the Duke of Devonshire's 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate. The 2-AA-Rosette property is in a "heart-tugging" location with "restful" guestrooms (The Daily Telegraph).
The property is in the quintessential North Yorkshire village of Burnsall. It was used as a location in the film "Calendar Girls". The hotel overlooks the Five Arch Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe.
Bolton Abbey is less than 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's home to the ruins of a 12th-century priory church. Walk through the Valley of Desolation and past Posforth Gill Falls for views from Simon's Seat.
Brimham Rocks, a National Trust site in the Nidderdale Natural Landscape, is around 30 minutes' drive. Or you could drive to the market town of Pateley Bridge and walk from there. The scenic route takes around an hour and a half.

Lovely hotel. It didn’t appear to have a lot of rooms so it felt quite intimate. We had a beautiful dinner, the food was well cooked and seasoned. It was a short walk into the village which was well worth it, very picturesque. The hotel has lovely gardens offering views across the fells.

Hotel in a lovely place plenty of walks , but weather not to good on our first day for walking ,rained all-day.

Staff and the hotel was great but i was disappointed with my main meal on both nights, both were very oily, also the side of new potatoes we had were hard. Drinks are very expensive and tea and coffee are five pence short of £5. i cant understand how they justify charging 36 , and 39 , pounds for a bottle of red wine when you can get the same bottle of wine for 9.99, and 12.99 from the internet . Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

We always enjoy staying in this lovely hotel which has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The food is excellent at both dinner & breakfast using fresh local ingredients.
The recent changes made mean that there is a spacious & comfortable lounge where you can relax.

Highly recommend this hotel, the location is ideal for ease of visiting other beauty spots and towns. The views from the hotel are breathtaking, the hotel is extremely comfortable and the ambiance welcoming. Food is delicious, staff friendly without being intrusive. Well worth a visit/stay.

The Fell is perfectly located on the edge of Burnsall village overlooking the river Wharfe. It is comfortably furnished with quality materials and a wide variety of art works. In my experience the staff are always very welcoming and professional and do a great job making guests feel welcomed. The evening meal menus are also varied with a choice to suit most people. Breakfast can be taken in a room overlooking the valley and they are cooked to order with the usual choices. Guests can also take up the offer of free parking lower down the valley to walk along the banks of the river Wharfe which features The Strid, a narrow channel where the river churns between rocky outcrops.

The restaurant and bar are relaxing and the staff are friendly, helpful and extremely professional. The hotel is very close to skipton and grassington and the Bolton Abbey Estate.
