The country inn uses seasonal ingredients to create its menu. Dishes are made with fresh produce and locally sourced meat from butchers across the Southwest.
Choose from dishes like potted salmon mousse and slow-braised pork belly.
It's just five minutes away from the picturesque village of Castle Combe. A number of movies, including "Dr Dolittle" and Steven Spielberg's "War Horse", were filmed there.

A superb lunchtime two course dinner plus coffee. The food was amazing, beautifully presented, some very unusual additions such as dragon fruit and absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere and comfortable seats, with plenty of room and a roaring log fire.

The “waiting “ staff were excellent but I suspect felt awkward about delays.

The wait for food was totally unacceptable. 1.5hrs and still only had a starter.
We were allowed credit up to £9 on starters and £24 for main course. However, the only starter for £9 was bread.
Most of the main courses were above the £24 threshold .
I’ve never experienced this increase on our previous visits and so was very disappointing.
I still have no idea why food took so long - not acceptable I’m afraid.

Wonderful country pub with a great selection of beer, wine and the most amazing food. We've been a few times and it never disappoints! Good portion sizes and attentive staff. You couldn't ask for more, apart from a chocolate pudding, that was the only thing missing.

The pub is really lovely, and service was excellent. Starters were great and beautifully presented. However, there were only four main courses that met the £24 allowed for with our voucher, so we had to pay extra. And they weren't bad - but not great either. The tiny roundel of venison was laughably small for the price, and both our mains were sludgy, with floppy vegetables in sauce and nothing hard or crisp to offset the meat. Moreover, the meat wasn't nearly as tasty as on our first visit, so perhaps the head chef has changed. The coffee, however, was fabulous!

We were well looked after by Ashley who seemed to be the only staff member looking after about 30 people and doing it brilliantly with great good humour and efficiency

Enjoyed a very nice meal with friends, the food was amazing. My husband had the venison and he said it was the nicest thing he’d tasted in ages. Three of our party had the fish and chips, the fish was enormous and the chips were so good. The pasta and belly pork were also very good. The pub was very busy with a great atmosphere and the staff were excellent and very attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go back.
