More Reasons to Go
- Albert Cottage is a country house hotel with a boutique feel. Original Victorian tiled floors, coving and wood panels, and fireplaces create an atmosphere of period elegance.
- The restaurant and bar has views of the garden. It is arguably a fitting spot to indulge in Victorian afternoon tea.
- The property is a stone's throw from Osborne House. Walk through opulent state rooms, family suites, and "glorious gardens" (Country Living).
- The scenic 68-mile Isle of Wight coastal path covers the entire circumference of the island. The section of the path that connects East Cowes and Ryde is a short stroll from the hotel.

Superb evening meal on the first night, lovely room, service at breakfast got progressively worse over the three days, there weren't enough staff available.

Unfortunately we visited during Storm Nelson so couldn't fully appreciate the lovely grounds (Osborne House). Very very convenient for the Southampton ferry (10 mins). Although in the grounds of the house - Albert Cottage is located on a main road which is audible. Staff were helpful and generally very cheery. The food was beautifully prepared by a Gordan Ramsey trained chef and priced accordingly.
Rooms were well appointed (we were lucky enough to have Room 1 - Empress Suite) which is very generously sized with a beautiful ensuite.
Rooms had "standard" provisions, tap water in bottle, instant tea, coffee and a biscuit upon arrival. Bathroom essentials also provided. The tea and coffee and milk sachets were replenished daily but nothing else.
Bed very comfortable and lovely large TV for the stormy evenings. A very pleasant harbour in a rather wet and windy period.

Evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was average!
Bacon and sausage overcooked- no real care taken in providing something freshly cooked which was a great shame!

East Cowes town disappointing, best to take the chain ferry across to West Cowes for shops and cafes.
