Stratton House Hotel dates from the 17th century. The building is part Jacobean and part Georgian, and is surrounded by a walled garden.
The restaurant serves a seasonal modern British menu and has views of the hotel's grounds. More informal fare is on offer at The Oak Bar.
The hotel's spa has a sauna, a steam room, and a Jacuzzi. Supplements apply for treatments and use of the facilities.
Standard Rooms are in the original Georgian hotel building. Superior Rooms are split between the modern Cotswold wing and the main Georgian house. Feature Rooms are in the Georgian house.
Five minutes' drive away is the historic market town of Cirencester. There is a Roman amphitheatre, an impressive parish church, and quaint tearooms to visit.
Cotswold Water Park, with its 180 lakes, is 20 minutes' drive away. Set over 40 square miles, it offers a host of walking trails. Cerney House Gardens (a restored Victorian walled garden) is 10 minutes' drive away.

Staff were mostly lovely and very helpful. Location is out of town but just a fifteen minute walk or a short drive away. The rooms are a decent size and very well set up. After a bit of floundering we managed to get the ev chargers to work which was a big help as there aren’t many around. Our second visit which won’t be our last.

First of all, Travelzoo dealt with my error in booking the wrong date for our stay (entirely my fault) quickly and rebooked for us at no additional cost.
This break was a treat for my wife who has been quite poorly of late and had to have surgery recently.
I cannot praise Stratton House Hotel enough - literally everything was perfect. The room, greeting on arrival at reception, all of the staff (the most important thing) from management to cleaners, the food, drink and service. I can honestly say that this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in for many years (and we made this clear with the Receptioninst on check out).
Thank you everyone at Stratton House for a lovely stay.
Oh, and Doris our Greyhound also had a nice time!

We had a fantastic 3 nights at Stratton House Hotel and other entire hotel was clean, most comfortable and well decorated and furnished. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The Restaurant and Bar Lounge were very nice and there was an excellent choice of food, largely from local suppliers. The Scones served to us with cream and Jam or butter were delicious. We shall certainly return, the hotel has lovely grounds and is only a very short drive from Cirencester Town Bourton on the Water, Stowe on the Wold and Bibury.

Really enjoyed our stay. Food excellent. Staff friendly, helpful and efficient. At our age (79 and 75) steps to bedroom on top floor was a bit of a bind, but once there a good room with excellent view. Shower in en-suite very good.

Good value hotel (through Travelzoo!) within walking distance of cirencester. Very pleasant staff and food enjoyable. On our 2nd morning there was a course going on below us and a large group were making a lot of noise from around 7am. We were on holiday and looking for a longer sleep! Also dog friendly which is fine except we had a barking dog in next door bedroom .
Windows in bedrooms need serious attention and cleaning of frames.

Superb! Lovely large room with a high ceiling. Fantastic breakfast. Only minor negatives were 1) the shower screen - it was far too narrow and thus large amounts of water sprayed over the bathroom floor, and 2) poor pillows, thin and from synthetic fibre failed to give adequate support.

lovely relaxing hotel. Great facilities and staff. The standard room was a bit tired looking however having had parents who ran their own small hotel I know the cost of doing up hotel rooms. The deal was great value for money...wouldn't have been able to book the Travelodge for less. Breakfast was fab. Great continental selection and cooked breakfasts are a must. The cotswold bacon was the best I've had. Easy walk into Cirencester.

Spa access not included for staying guests. Extra £25 for each guest for 2hr access. Huge disappointment when going to stay in a spa hotel and having to pay so much more to use facilities. £100 for 2 people for two days as an extra charge seems very excessive when the whole stay was £194.

From start to finnish, it was a very enjoyable experience, the room was comfortable and roomy. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked. The breakfast was excellent with a great selection, on our first day I had the full brekfast and I mean full. The second day we had the Sour dough with scrambled eggs and salmon, their was such a good selections of cereals etc. The hotel was a 20mins walk to Cirencester town centre which we had agood explore around taking in the cathederal etc. The bar area had a lovely log fire which warmed you up on your return. to sum it all up an enjoyable break.

It was another lovely stay. I did notify reception on departure that the blue sofa in room 8 had what looked like coffee or tea spilt down it and suggested housekeeping clean the stains. Also, the chandeliers throughout need cleaning and we’re in the same condition on our last visit. Apart from those 2 housekeeping points, the staff were excellent and good very good. Would definitely come again.

Lovely atmosphere in this hotel. Felt small and friendly. Beautiful relaxed feel to the decor which matched the property.
Dinner was well cooked as was breakfast. Must have good chefs in the kitchen.
The location was great for Cirencester. Just a short walk away.

Stratton house is a lovely country house hotel with a delightful atmosphere. I’ve stayed here a few times but this was my first solo trip. The staff are delightful, friendly and welcoming and aim to please. The room I had was a large quirky “feature” room with a huge bathroom and separate dressing room, very warm and comfortable. The walk into Cirencester is about a mile from the hotel, easily managed. The food is superb, and I ate in the dining hall both nights. The breakfast menu is excellent and freshly cooked. I didn't try the spa but aim to on my next visit.

My girlfriend and i were celebrating our seventh anniversary.
Stratton House was simply amazing! The feature room overlooking the quaint walled garden was superb! The bathroom had a rolled top bath and a super shower.
Stratton House staff were all really friendly and most helpful. The location of the hotel was great. Just a short walk to the beautiful city of Cirencester. It’s a great location to see many beautiful places in the Cotswolds.
Breakfast was huge! And very tasty.
All in all we absolutely loved it!

We had a lovely weekend stay with my parents for their 60th wedding anniversary. The hotel was very cosy and relaxing with great food. The cooked breakfast was outstanding. A bit disappointed that although we mentioned their anniversary on booking and to several staff, nothing was done to recognise the amazing achievement.

We spent a very pleasant two days at the hotel, eating in the restaurant one night and the bar the other, but it was the same menu. During the day we explored Cirencester which is only about 20 minutes walk.

We enjoyed a warm welcome and went to our newly refurbished room, no 4. The hotel is very old and full of character but ypu can tell they are trying to keep up with its maintenance. We had to book a time for breakfast which we didn't really like but other than that we enjoyed our stay here. The evening meal was excellent with great service. We loved the breakfast too. Thank you

Really good hotel, nice building, pleasant surroundings, well located for walk to Cirencester, really good breakfasts - quantity as well as quality + friendly helpful staff.
Room was decent size, with a clean/quality bathroom - could have been a little bit better equipped - e.g. mini-fridge/hairdryer/etc. - but I realise that not many hotels can do this for this price.
View from room window was a bit lacking - looked out over the back of the hotel, so bins, sheds, etc.

There was a conference taking place below our room that started at 07:30 in the morning, so we had a bit of an earlier wake-up than we would have liked when we are on holiday (could do with a bit of sound-proofing)
