We thought it was in a good location in the village, handy for everything. The parking was good. The room was okay, nice and clean but a little bland. The bedding was nice but the bed was a little hard. We really appreciated that we had a large bathroom with both a bath and shower and plenty of hot water. The main thing that let it down for us was the evening meal. I was really looking forward to a fine dining experience. The dining room was nice but the food was disappointing, very average. I had croquettes to start which didn’t feel home made, I had fish and chips, the fish was nice but the chips weren’t nice and the mushy peas felt very dry. The crumble was okay but I think that the apple could possibly have come out of a tin. Breakfast was okay though..

Good small hotel. Very clean and spacious but had a strange smell in the room. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Would definitely eat here again but perhaps not stay. Our fault as we should have asked to change rooms but didn’t.

We were a group of 6 adults and we were all extremely happy with our Lamplighter experience. The rooms, the ambiance, the staff were all really pleasant and helpful and the food was amazing! Breakfast choices were in abundance and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to James and his team - excellent !

Staff very professional and friendly. Very warm and welcoming! Nice building done in twenties Art deco styling. Charming and nice. Open live fire in bar and dining area! Nice! Room clean and well presented. On suit shower dated, on the small side. Needs upgrade. Bed comfy and large enough quite enough being it's location on the main street The food is excellent! High quality well priced and a goid selection on menu. Highly recommended! All round a good experience.
Other Comments
Small things that might disappoint. No safe in room. Lighting in room could be better. Shower room requires upgrade. More hooks or storage space. But would still recommend.

Food was very good as was service and staff. Bathroomwas clean except for behind toilet where there was 'bits of stuff like rubble , dirt round bath taps where water comes out, dusty radiator in bathroom. Very comfy bed, nice linen, shame about the headboard which was stained where people put their heads..First thing you noticed on arrival in the bedroom.
Hotel could do with updating, but great location and food

The room was fairly clean and adequate. The food excellent though no cereals, fruit etc buffet service. We had to order everything separately. Breakfast not hot as waitress was busy checking people out and our food was probably waiting in kitchen? Atrocious parking - very tight spaces so fortunate our car is small. Everyone complaining! No bar area to sit after having dinner.

Lovely place to stay, the dining room had a great atmosphere & the food was delicious!! The staff were very friendly & couldn’t do enough to help! We were able to park the car which was a bonus & found it on the doorstep of lots of lovely shops. Beds were comfy & everything was lovely & clean, despite being on the roadside the rooms were very quiet & we had a great nights sleep. Would definitely recommend to others as somewhere to stay & because I got a good deal on our stay I couldn’t be happier :)
