More Reasons to Go
- Built in 1894, ivy-clad Kentisbury Grange mixes Regency and Victorian Gothic features. It was built for a Lancashire cotton merchant and sits in attractive landscaped grounds. Ducks, pheasants, and rabbits roam the gardens, and at night the lakes are floodlit.
- The Coach House restaurant and cocktail bar serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. It's located in a separate building behind the house. The Daily Telegraph praises the "excellent food" on offer.
- Stylish Classic Double Rooms are located in the main house. You can also opt for a Cottage Suite in the gardens (supplements apply). These have a super-king bed, walk-in shower, freestanding bath, underfloor heating, and sun terrace.
- Kentisbury Grange is located within Exmoor National Park. A huge choice of walking routes is on offer. The South West Coast Path and the Tarka cycling trail are both a short drive away.
- Lynton and Lynmouth on the North Devon coast are less than 20 minutes' drive away. These picturesque towns are connected by a Victorian funicular railway running up the steep gorge.
- Barnstaple is around 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's noted for its historic pannier market which runs five days a week.

We were disappointed with our meal on our first evening, overcooked and left over from Sunday lunch we felt.

Some good, some not so good.
The garden suite was not a suit but was a very nice large, well appointed room with a nice bathroom
The cooked food for dinner and breakfast was excellent but the breakfast buffet was very poor - no fruit; only cereals were corn flakes and cocoa pops; no pastries; very poor selection of jam, no marmalade;

Nice pleasant country side location. But car would be essential as there aren't any leisure or essential facilities within walking distance.

Staff were lovely. Breakfast table needing refreshing as only small amounts being put out at a time. Rooms a little tired and hallways, light fittings needing a spring clean. Evening meal extremely well presented and expertly cooked. The duck was succulent. Low on beers for hubby. Think seasonal related.

Super location. We were in room 11 and the stairs would be a challenge to many pensioners. The lodges in surrounding private bays look fantastic.
