Why We Love This Hotel

  • Buckler's Hard is a small shipbuilding village where vessels were constructed for Admiral Nelson's navy. The Master Builder's House was the residence of the head shipbuilder, Henry Adams.
  • The property is now a boutique hotel. It has stunning views of the Beaulieu River and its pretty marina.
  • Dining options include a casual pub and the AA-Rosette-awarded Riverview restaurant. There's a "stylish" (The AA) dining room, plus a terrace and gardens for al fresco dining.
  • Buckler's Hard Maritime Museum tells the fascinating story of this picturesque hamlet. You could combine a visit with a riverside stroll to the village of Beaulieu. There's a path leading directly to it from Buckler's Hard.
  • The Beaulieu estate, home to 13th-century Beaulieu Palace House, is around five minutes' drive. The on-site National Motor Museum houses more than 280 notable vehicles. These range from a 1875 steam carriage to famous cars from the silver screen.
  • A host of walking and cycling opportunities await in the New Forest National Park. You can visit attractive villages including Lymington and Brockenhurst, spotting wild ponies on the way.

Room 21 on first floor. View over river from front and side windows. Very homely with lovely querky touches such as huge travelling trunk! Superb breakfast and good choice for dinner. We only stayed 2 nights and had sufficient coat hangers. May need to provide more for a longer stay and a chest of drawers would be useful. Liked the mini bottle of milk in fridge!

We had a very enjoyable 2 night stay. We had the river view room which had great views. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was in a beautiful position.

The only drawback of the hotel, which was down to its age was the noise that came through the floorboards from the bar area. Thankfully it wasn’t particularly busy whilst we were there. It could be a real problem at busy times.

The Master Builders House in the New Forest ‘Bucklers Hard’ walks nearby. Full of history. Accommodations. We stayed in the Henry Adams wing as we required twin beds. This area will have dogs if you wish to bring your K9. There were definitely a few staying. All well behaved. Bed and bedding, very comfortable and crisp cotton sheets and duvet covers. Pillows were comfortable. Bathroom, dated. Nice white cotton hand and bath towel's. Electric car charging area for a few vehicles. Breakfast very nice. Good hot and cold selection, nice pastries, fresh fruit. Granola. We were surprised about the surcharge when we had our evening meal in the pub. This wasn’t highlighted or on the menu. Overall we had a lovely time.

Draw back Lack of plug sockets to charge phones etc No flannels Extremely hot water Excess water when flushing the toilet. Dust and food under the units in the Restaurant Tea very anemic regardless on how long you left it to brew. First morning hadn’t been very hot.

As a disabled Blind person the staff could not have been more considerate and helpful (which unfortunately we have not always found this to be the case elsewhere). The food was great. The room was super, with great views. When we went to the Museum we were given a discount for being at the hotel and as a registered Blind person my wife (carer) had a free pass. Parking was easily accessible.
