Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel lies in Bath's compact city centre which has many independent shops and restaurants.
  • Bath is listed as one of the great spa towns of Europe by UNESCO. Thermae Bath Spa offers naturally warm, mineral-rich waters.
  • Relive life in Regency-era Bath at the Jane Austen Centre, five minutes' walk from the hotel.
  • The iconic Royal Crescent is a 15-minute stroll from the hotel. It overlooks Royal Victoria Park, an expansive parkland ideal for autumn walks.
  • The Holburne Museum is 15 minutes' walk away. It houses an impressive collection of fine art and served as Lady Danbury's home in "Bridgerton". Sydney Gardens, the oldest park in the city, is behind the museum.

We were pleasantly surprised by our experience as we did not know what to expect. The staff at the reception were friendly. Check-in was quick and straight forward. Our room was bright and spacious. The room was clean but not as clean as it should have been. The table in the room had not been wiped off. The carpet requires wet cleaning. The cleaning staff really need to actually going into the shower cubicle to clean it because there was black mould build up in the corner which is only visible once you are inside the cubicle. Breakfast was better than expected based on one of the reviews we had read prior to our visit. Indeed we enjoyed our breakfast. The restaurant was busy but not overly so. The choice of food was more than adequate. Our only negative was when we checked out and the car parking discount machine would not accept our car registration number. The member of staff that dealt with the matter was less than helpful. He basically told us that this sometimes happen and they can do nothing about it. No helpful suggestion to resolve the matter was make. We found this to be unacceptable since at in check at the hotel the previous day that car park we used was strongly recommended to us by the check in staff. We resolved the matter for ourselves by speaking into the monitored pay machine at the car park and explained the situation and we were able to obtain the discounted rate.

The hotel is in a great location to tour the centre of Bath. It has many bars and restaurants in close proximity. Also great shops!

Very pleasant 2 night stay at this hotel. The location was brilliant, everything within few minutes walking distance. The room was good, he only downside being that you could not open the window to get fresh air instead had to have the aircon on which did make the room chilly in the evening. The breakfast was sufficient, not fantastic but was complimentary so cant really complain. Would return to this hotel should we visit Bath again.

Surprised at the lack of wardrobe and drawer space. Also no restaurant really worth eating in at night, after a hard days sightseeing.

Great location, quiet room, comfortable bed, good facilities in the room, good value with the offer. Barman was very helpful, reception staff good. So good on the important things. Also liked having the instructions for the aircon in the room, so much better than having to call out staff when you can't get it right. Another nice touch was the red/green card on the table at breakfast to show if a table is occupied or not. Could do with more tables for breakfast - very busy. Breakfast was mediocre; no unsweetened muesli, no nuts/dried fruit or healthy toppings for cereal, no bread rolls, porridge was instant and inedible. I don't eat cooked breakfast so these things are important. Reception area and bar/breakfast area was characterless and impersonal but I guess this is because it's a modern hotel. Also could do with more quality drinks on offer eg the wines on offer were at the very cheap/poor quality end only.
