The AA praises the property's "elegant interior" and "impressive" spa facilities. These include a pool, a sauna, and a steam room (supplements apply for treatments).
Llandrindod Wells is a Victorian spa town in Powys in Mid Wales. It's a great base from which to explore the Elan Valley. Its stunning landscape takes in cascading rivers and a chain of man-made lakes. The visitor centre is around 25 minutes' drive away.
For even more walking trails and scenic vistas, head to Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Formerly known as the Brecon Beacons, the park is less than 45 minutes' drive away.

We are a group of 4 very close friends from decades past and we only manage one weekend a year when we all get together so that time is very special to us. Your wonderful staff , relaxing and welcoming atmosphere and decor made that possible on this trip thank you. This is the only time in many trips we have not gone outside our hotel at all ! We spent the whole time, talking, eating, drinking, repeat !

Reluctantly, I will just mention, there was a member of the bar staff who lacked the people skills of everyone else on staff. He was actually quite surly and rude. We can’t remember his name but it could have been something like Georgio. Perhaps he was having a bad day. The lady in the dining room with a name like Edyth was the complete opposite, smiley, courteous and incredibly efficient. A delight.

Métropole Hôtel was very good. However, Llandridod Wells, like so many other U.K. towns, is not a place we will revisit. The area is full of wonderful countryside and places to visit. The town is in its death throes. If you want somewhere to stay while exploring the area The Metropole Hotel is ideal.

the 'Superior' room that I paid extra for was not what I would regard as superior. The view from the window was marred by a dark green wall and large kitchen extractor flue. The decor was tired and one wall stained and the bed was past its sell by date. The bathroom was better but the shower sliding door was not sliding freely and the heated towel rail could only be turned on at the same time as the radiator in the room.

The evening meal priced at £33.00 for both of us + 1 guest was, quite frankly, terrible. The fish cakes were tantamount to mushy potato and the so-called "Chickpea curry" was a total misnomer....the only positive feature was the rice. Grossly overpriced and the 3 meals reflected badly on the Metropole. I sincerely hope there's a change of staff in the kitchen when we next visit. Maybe they need a touch of basic training to make meals tasty!

This hotel is old and tired. The spa is pretty disgusting with mould and peeling paint everywhere and a non-functioning steam room. I think calling it a spa is a real stretch - it's a swimming pool with a jacuzzi and a tiny sauna. There are a few chairs. We went in there once and I did not want to go again! The food in the restaurant is a slight step up from school dinners but only a step. Our room was small and very basic. The curtains didn't close properly. The furniture was old and rickety. The toilet made a huge noise when you flushed it that reverberated through the wall for about five minutes afterwards. I can see how this hotel used to be great. It certainly isn't any more!

We had a delightful one night stay. The meals were very good and we enjoyed using the swimming pool. It's location is excellent, close to everything in town including the train station.
